Hi Everyone, Connie Tackett sent this email last week with an link for ideas and resources for Dr. Seuss' birthday. Mrs. Swiney has some ideas for dress up fun for the students during that week. I think that we will get more info on the dress up plans in a few weeks.

Here are the great dress-up day ideas that I have received so far. If you have others, please share!

Dress-up Day Ideas

Monday - Fox in Socks --- Silly sock Day Tuesday - Oh the Places You'll go ------favorite vacation shirt? Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday ---- Mismatch day Thursday - Foot Book ---- slippers day Friday --- Lorax—5th grade drama classes are doing a presentation of the Lorax. I think we might also be watching the movie as well because we are going to have the classroom teachers do activities throughout the week as a connection to the drama production and the movie and compare the two after. --- "Grab your Hat and Read with the Cat" ---- Crazy Hat Day

We have done: dress as your favorite book character & had a parade; decorated a shoe box as a float to promote reading and had a parade; crazy hair day; inside out day; mascot day; crazy hat day, etc.

Fox in Socks – Wear crazy socks I am NOT Going to Get Up Today – Pajama Day Cat in the Hat – Wear red and white for Dr. Seuss’ birthday The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins – Hat Day Hooray for Diffendoofer Day – “Hooray for Liberty Day!” Wear a Liberty shirt (School name)

Decorate doors for a door decorating contest. What if on Wednesday it was "Wacky Wednesday" with mix-matched socks, backwards shirts or inside out shirts, two different shoes, etc. “Spotted You Reading” day. Our AR theme this year is dog-related, so on this day, we will ask everyone to dress like Dalmatians and wear polka dots. We will ask students to bring in a can/bag of pet food that will be donated to local pet rescue organizations.
