Independent Study Task In History, having an overview or the bigger picture is vital to understanding how the events all fit together. It will make analysing the causes, consequences and interpretations of these events much clearer. We would like you to make a giant timeline of the key events of the First Crusade, including the origins and immediate aftermath. You do not need to go into exhaustive detail but having a chronological understanding of what happens when will really help give you a good foundation for your A Level studies in Year 12. You can present them in a way that works best for your understanding. You could use the internet as a starting point and could then look at some of the books on the reading list to develop your timelines.
The timelines should be handed in during your first A Level History lesson. Year 12 units Royal Authority and the Angevin Historical Investigation. Independent Study Task One of the big barriers to understanding the medieval period is comprehending how society and the social structures differed so greatly to today. In order to gain a more depth understanding of the medieval world and to help with your initial lessons in medieval history there is some wider reading, which you need to have read and complete the relevant associated tasks on social hierarchy, the ecclesiastical structure and the judicial system in 12th Century England. In order to get the pre-read materials and the hand-outs, you need to email Mr L Gallagher requesting these before 9th August. The materials will not be available after this date. The email address to receive the materials is [email protected]
The pre-read material and associated tasks need to be completed and returned during your first A Level History lesson.
