CIPMC activities, Bengaluru Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Bangalore, come into existence for strategy evolved with new approach in sustainable management by merging the Central Biological Control Station, Bangalore, Parasite Multiplication unit, Bangalore and the Central Surveillance station, Mysore, during the year 1991-92. At present, the CIPMC, Bangalore, started functioning in its own premises located at “Jaivik Bhavan” Kannamangala post, Via Kadugodi, Bangalore 560115. During the year 2016-17, the centre continued all major activities with the following targets: Surveillance of crop pests 40,000 ha, (6 Special surveys were conducted; Coconut Rugose Spiralling Whitefly, Pink Boll Worm in Cotton, Nut Weevil and Pulp Weevil in Mango, Coffee White Stem Borer, Ambrosia psilostachya and Black Headed Caterpillar in Coconut.) Conservation of existing natural enemies 39,000 ha, Augmentation of natural enemies 5,000 ha, Augmentation of natural enemies 100 millions (A total of ten species of natural enemies of 112.9436 millions of bio agents were released to infested fields, 348 kg Trichoderma spp. were distributed to farmers for free of cost and total crop area augmented was 5018.7 ha), FFS in Kharif season 16 numbers (Cotton, Vegetables, Rice, Sugarcane, Groundnut, Redgram) and 14 in Rabi (Vegetables, Coconut, Fruits) were organized across different districts of Karnataka. 2 days IPM OTP (two each at kharif & rabi) 4 numbers were conducted one for pesticide deals and rest for farmers, 5 days IPM OTP was conducted for Agriculture Officers and Assistant Agriculture Officers of State Agriculture Department. A total of 323 samples of vegetables and fruits were collected and sent for pesticide residue analysis to the Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry lab. Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Out of 323 samples submitted, 27 samples showed pesticide residue above Maximum Residue Limit (MRL). The centre has supplied Corcyra cephalonica eggs (host culture) and nucleus cultures of other bio-agents to various organizations, other CIPMCs of DPPQ&S and state Horticulture department.
