Reservation Process: 1) Check availability of boats from the schedule with University Boat Captain 2) Complete this form; incomplete forms without all of the requested information will be returned without approval. Submit a minimum of two weeks prior to requested vessel use. 3) Obtain approval from Marine and Environmental Sciences Department Chair. 4) Obtain approval of the float plan from a University Boat Captain.

†To find the tide at SSU Dock on Country Club Creek, simply add 0:45 to the time for the Fort Pulaski Tide Station (NOS). NOTE: The R/V Robinson can only operate in and out of Country Club Creek 3 hours before to 3 hours after High Tide. The Tiger II can only operate in and out of Country Club Creek 1½ hours after to 1½ hours before Low Tide. If requesting multiple days add a separate sheet with the requested info above. ----- Definitions ------Vessel Captain: US Coast Guard licensed and approved employee of SSU. Vessel Operator (small boats): Marine and Environmental Sciences qualified and approved faculty, staff or Human Resources and Marine and Environmental Sciences volunteer. See Certification and Authorization to Use Savannah State University Boats Marine Science Vessel Operating Regulations Agreement. Vessel Crew: Marine and Environmental Sciences qualified and approved faculty, staff, student or Human Resources and Marine and Environmental Sciences approved volunteer. Required equipment on board: A Personal Flotation Device is required for each individual on board, throwable device, fire extinguisher, whistle or horn, anchor, oar, visual distress signal, first aid kit, and a handheld VHF radio. Small boat vessel operators are also required to check the weather forecast and current radar image or loop on the Web and log out on the status board prior to departure and log in after return.
