Intended for teachers who want coursework in curriculum and instruction with an endorsement in literacy. Note: This is NOT the same as the MS in Ed Literacy degree.

Note: A physical education adapted endorsement may be acquired with 3 alternate and/or additional courses offered in cooperation with Otterbein University.

Each of the following content area concentrations include the required 18 hours to become “Highly Qualified” as defined by the Ohio Department of Education. These 18 hours will enable the candidate to teach College in High School dual enrollment classes if they already possess a master’s degree; or with the additional 15 hours of core courses stated above which will complete a master’s degree.

Comprehensive Exams

A Master Teacher Portfolio is required in order to graduate with a master’s degree. The following criteria, as described in the Standards for Ohio Educators, must be clearly demonstrated in the following areas: a) consistent leadership, b) focused collaboration, c) focus on students and environment, d) focus on content, instruction and assessment, and e) continued professional growth. Please see the Office of Teacher Education for additional information. (Note: ODE rubric will be used to score).

Note: Satisfactory completion of this portfolio in combination with completion of the Master’s degree and 9 years of successful teaching qualify the candidate for the Senior Professional Educator License.
