Senior Accountant

Total Power is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for their Mississauga location.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for banking activities such as bank reconciliations and preparing the daily cash report. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for monthly reporting, financial statements and journal entries, and Government remittances and related filings (EHT, WSIB, etc.)

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Banking Activities  Reconcile bank accounts  Prepare daily cash reports  Maintain petty cash  Conduct bank transfers, and reconcile daily deposits  Maintain schedule of foreign exchange forward contracts

Month End Activities  Prepare schedules and analysis to support the trial balances, balance sheet and other financial statements  Monthly reporting for internal financial statements  Prepare and post journal entries  Control closing of accounting periods in Great Plains (GP) modules  Confirm batches are accurate and posted  Reconcile all sub ledgers to general ledger  Maintain fixed asset sub ledger; record additions, disposals and depreciation  Maintain schedules for leases and long term debt  Calculate and record accruals  Calculate monthly bonuses and commissions, post accruals  Maintain schedule of prepaid contracts

Other Activities  Assist with year-end audits  Prepare all Government remittances; GST, HST, QST, BC PST, SK PST, MB PST, income tax instalments  Process WSIB remittances, Worksafe BC, WCB Alberta and record journal entries  Annual reconciliation and filing of EHT and WSIB  Prepare accounting allocation and post payroll journals  Accounting distribution for employee benefits and pension plan  Reconcile physical inventory counts to general ledger  Other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time consistent with the position of Senior Accountant and the job description and duties set out herein

Education and other Requirements:

 Related post-secondary degree and an Accounting Designation; (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) or equivalents required  3-5 years of progressive work experience in Accounting in a multi-department, multi-branch environment with separate cost centers in multiple provinces required  Microsoft Great Plains (GP) experience required  Experience with job costing and/or a field service organization considered an asset  Wennsoft and Management Reporter experience an asset  Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office  Possess excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels within the organization  In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in Ontario, be available for work

Working Conditions:

 Ability to attend and conduct various local presentations  Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals  Overtime as required  Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required
