Position Title: Graduate Service Assistant – Journal of School Leadership Reports to: Dr. Denise Schares Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership and Postsecondary Education

Terms of Employment:  For the fall semester: 20 hours per week, beginning August 22, 2016 and ending December 16, 2016. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving Break.

 For the spring semester: 20 hours per week, beginning January 9, 2017 and ending May 5, 2017. Does not include the week of Spring Break.

Compensation:  Full assistantship salary for 2016-17 is $5,044 per semester.  Salary is prorated on a weekly basis for late start.  Graduate Assistants may qualify for in-state tuition and fees.  Graduate Assistants receive University holidays and do not work during Thanksgiving Break, Spring Break, or the interims between semesters.

Position Description:  Provide administrative support for the Journal of School Leadership inclusive of addressing initial & basic email inquiries daily  Maintain the google document database for tracking systematic review process (i.e., new manuscripts, revise and resubmit, reject, and accepted).  Continuously update the JSL manuscript matrix which contains every submission, reviewer matrix, volume and issue, and master manuscripts matrix.  Consult with the editor on submissions (i.e., new and R&R), provides completed reviews for decision-making, and assist with production of each volume/issue.  Organize meeting and assist with correspondence from reviewers, editorial board members, and planning conference events (e.g., AERA Journal talk, UCEA Editorial board meeting). Perform other duties pertaining to JSL (e.g., assist with generating report on annual publications; maintenance of JSL Facebook page).

Qualifications:  Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a UNI graduate program.  Must be enrolled in 9 graduate credits each semester of assistantship.  Maintain a Plan and cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00.  Must have good oral and written skills.  Must have the ability to multi-task and good organizational skills
