POST: Regional Community Services Director

RESPONSIBLE TO: National Director of Community Services

FUNCTION/TEAM: Community Services

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Community Services Managers GRADE:

LOCATION: The North

SALARY: £40,741 - £44,274 (SCP 48 – 52 National Scale)

PURPOSE:

 To strategically oversee and lead the long term co-ordination, development and sustainability of Community Services across each Hub in the region, in line with the National Hub strategy.  To ensure that the delivery of Community Services activities in the region is rooted in the Oasis Vision, Mission and Ethos and meets the Oasis ‘student first agenda’, and helps support Academy targets in literacy, transition, attendance, recruitment, social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.  To generate resources and maximise income through building partnerships, fundraising and submitting grants and tenders.  To lead and manage the Community Services Managers / Hub Coordinators within each Hub.  To work alongside with the Regional Academies Director to develop Oasis Hubs in the North of England.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

 Inputting into national Community Services / Hub strategy and supporting the national team as needed.  Leading the regional Hub development planning and monitoring process so that all Hub activities are part of a coherent, integrated and sustainable plan.  Support the development of new Hubs in the region and attend consultation meetings.  Overseeing the use of the ehub tool within the region.  Overseeing the implementation and development of the regional hub charities.  Advising and supporting the Community Services Manager and, when appropriate, Academy Principals on:

1. Developing Oasis Hub global partnerships and raising global awareness. 2. Developing Youth, Children’s and Families work in the Hub. 3. Developing Volunteering, including internships, apprenticeships, threesixty and ‘Friends of Oasis’ (Parent Teacher Association). 4. Maximising income generation through use of Academy buildings. 5. Developing Homelessness support services. 6. Advising Community Services Managers on Oasis Community Development best practice. 7. The delivery of Community Services activities in the region with a student first agenda, helping support the Academy targets in literacy, transition, attendance, recruitment, social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.

 Supporting the Oasis Hub Leadership teams to:

1. Implement the Hub framework plan and monitor outcomes. 2. Fundraise locally and supporting national bids to maximise income for the Hubs. 3. Embed national Hub policies and procedures. 4. Understand and ensure the needs of the local communities are met.

Integrated Community Services

 Making sure National Community Services work is aligned to the national best practice handbook and standards.  Overseeing the usage of the ehub tool to record outcomes across the region.  Informing Community Services Managers of regional key agendas and funding opportunities (e.g. Ofsted and Pupil Premium funding).  Supporting the delivery of Oasis Campaigns such as Stop the Traffik in the regional Oasis Hubs.

1 Communications, Community Liaison & Partnerships

 Contributing to the effective communication of the Oasis vision across the Hubs within the region.  Building appropriate partnerships with statutory and voluntary agencies and also businesses in the region.

1 Administration, Finance & fundraising

 Overseeing the regional Hub charities and the Hub accounts within it.  Establishing an annual budget for the regional Community Services department and account for spending within limits.  Monitoring Community Service budgets within the Hubs  Reporting on progress to key stakeholders and line reports.  Researching and apply for funding including from trusts and tendered services.  Developing and supporting fundraising activities within the region to secure funds for Community Services development.

1 People Management

 Supervising and supporting Community Services Managers / Hub coordinators in the region through one to one meetings, team meetings, training and appraisals.  Assisting with the recruitment and selection of staff.  Providing or facilitating access to necessary staff/professional development and job specific training.  Managing personal development of line staff. To work as part of the national community services team and the regional team. 1 Safeguarding children and young people

Essential Desirable Qualifications  Education to degree level or  Recent relevant training in equivalent and /or relevant Management and professional qualification in Leadership/ Extended community development or services/ Community teaching.
