PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
1.A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
1.B. Supporting Structure: 1.B.1. It is critical that bi-fold systems be installed level, plum and square. Top-hung systems are attached through the frame top guide track into a beam which bears all the system's weight. Top-hung systems require an adequately sized beam and threshold support system to not only bear the building dead and live loads, but accommodate lateral loads caused by panels in an open (from the weight of the panels folded to one end) and closed positions (from wind-load pressures). 1.B.2. Before installing Lanai systems, all dead loads need to be in place including, but not limited to, second stories, balconies, roofs, attics, etc. After bearing this weight for an adequate time and considering future dead and live loads including, but not limited to, flooring, stucco, snow, people and the weight of our system, install the folding door system.
1.C. Verify that the rough opening is square level and plumb before proceeding.
1.D. Critical for Inswing Systems: Interior finish floor must be level or slope away from threshold.
1.E. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2 PREPARATION
2.A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
2.B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
08 35 00-28 3.3 INSTALLATION
3.A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.B. Install system in accordance with Miami-Dade County NOA installation instructions and manufacturer's supplemental installation guidelines. 3.B.1. Installer to provide anchoring devices as required by NOA.
3.C. Properly seal perimeter of framing members with sealant.
3.D. After repeated operation of folding panels, readjust vertical and horizontal heights.
3.E. Clean frames and glass as described in installation guidelines.
3.4 PROTECTION
4.A. Protect installed products until completion of project.
4.B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
