STUDENT WORK: Tutoring for the CASTLE, HS STARS, or Adult Education Programs.

1. ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF COURSE  $100.00 for course fee.  Students will commute to location from SMC or home at their own expense.  Transportation would be at the expense of the students unless the students are staying in community and can travel with the Brothers.

4. INFRASTRUCTURE/ACCOMODATIONS: De La Salle House in Berkeley may be able to provide students an opportunity to live in community for month of January. Brother Anthony is exploring this possibility with his community and would need to be contacted to make arrangements for at least two students. Students would be expected to participate in the routine of the Brothers Community.

5. RISKS/EMERGENCIES: This site is local and therefore has access to 911 emergency services.

6. COMMUNICATION: CHRISTIAN SERVICE INTERNSHIP 2013 The use cell phones and computers (Facebook, emails, YouTube, etc.) during the time students are present is not permitted.

7. COURSE WORKLOAD:  Requirements as listed on the syllabus  Includes four required 2-hour seminars and possible additional meeting for further information on this particular location.

8. BEHAVIOURAL EXPECTATIONS Students must:  To have a preliminary meeting with the Director of LEO Center in December. At this time the Director will reiterate the expectations and answer any questions the Jan Term student may have.  Provide basic information: Full name Phone no. Email address Emergency contact Faculty contact at SMC Basic expectations students have of the LEO Center Reason(s) for coming to the LEO Center  Students are to sign in and sign out.  Students are expected to take part in the entire life of the LEO Center in order to get the most out of his or her experience. -The day begins at nine in the morning and concludes at five thirty. -Or The day may begin at one thirty with afternoon prayer and conclude at 9:00 PM (Dinner will be provided for those that opt for option “b” )  Students are to dress appropriately (i.e. no gym clothes) and carry themselves professionally (friendly yet always aware of boundaries between tutor and those being tutored) while at the same time being personable and friendly.  There is no eating or drinking while the students are present (if there is a need to drink water or have something to eat do so in the kitchen)  While the students may have other pressing business with the outside world, the students at the LEO Center becomes their absolute first priority and are asked to honor the agreement/schedule made with the director.  There is no socializing among other SMC students or Staff while there are students at the LEO Center. (A brief and friendly greeting, as well as pleasant bye, is always encouraged).  While at the LEO Center, Jan Term Students are expected to raise any and all concerns they may have with the director.  At the end of the Jan Term, students will meet with the director to answer a few questions regarding their experience at the LEO Center.
