Parental Health  Discuss with mother any concerns she has regarding her physical and emotional health.  Collect Substance Use and Smoking Inventory.  Collect Beck Depression Inventory Parenting  Ask mother the date of the next scheduled visit with the infant’s healthcare provider. If she is unable to provide the date, support her in making the appropriate appointment.  Present as anticipatory guidance, Parent Express: 8 Months Old giving attention to the article, “Feeding Fork Mashed Foods”.  Present also as anticipatory guidance, From Baby Bottle to Cup  Using the handout, Separation Anxiety, discuss with mother ways she can help her infant cope with separations.  Review Parent Reflections: My Baby is 8 Months Old to support mother’s maternal role.  Share with father, The 8th Month of Fatherhood
