Research Paper
Topic – Choose one of the authors from the attached list. When you have selected your topic, please sign the list. Once you have selected a topic, you may not change without permission. All topics must be selected by Wednesday, November 25th, No changes will be permitted past Monday, November 30th .
This is an author study. This means you must discuss: The author early life and education. What are the personal experiences or social issues that inspire the author to write? Major titles the author has written. Who is the author’s target audience? What influence has this author had on other authors? Awards and recognitions the author has won throughout his/her career.
Length – 3-4 typed pages. Your paper must be submitted through turnitin.com. A hard copy must also be handed in in class on the due date. In addition to your 3-4 full pages of text, you must also have a Title page and a Works Cited page.
Requirements: 1. You must complete a works cited page. The following resources may be utilized for research: pre-determined databases, scholarly articles and books. You may use a resource such as EasyBib.com to help format your Works Cited list.
2. You must utilize parenthetical citations. We will be reviewing the format in class. Papers must include one internal citation per source for a minimum of three.
3. You may only use databases and scholarly articles found in the Hauppauge LMC online archive. You may not use Wikipedia or Google to find resources.
Required format Papers must be written in MLA format. We will review this format in class and a guide is available on the school website on the Library Media Center page.
Be sure to closely follow all due dates. They will be announced in class, written on the board and listed on my webpage. Check for updates. The research paper will count as one test grade toward your second quarter average.
All papers must be submitted to turnitin.com by 7:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21. A hard copy must also be submitted in class, this same day. NO EXCEPTIONS!
