JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC/SHOP FOREMAN CLASSIFICATION:NON-EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE REPORTS TO: FACILITIES MANAGER PAY RANGE: Grade 17 (25.04 - $34.39) (52,083 – 71,531)

JOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, performs a variety of mechanic and shop foreman duties. Foreman has the responsibility for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of Airport vehicles and equipment. Must possess ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems and make repairs. Strong organizational skills in a facilities maintenance environment are a must. Oversees the shop area, supply room and inventory control. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly vehicle maintenance schedule for efficient use of shop, time, and equipment.

 Execute a Preventive Maintenance Program and insure proper operation of Airport vehicles.

 Maintain computer (excel or other format) spread sheet on the entire fleet.

 Estimates and initiates purchase requisitions for out-side vehicle maintenance work, as required, including but not limited to, source, cost, delivery, time etc.

 Assists with the use and care of a wide variety of automotive tools as well as computerized diagnostic equipment.

JD MAINTENANCE MECHANIC /Shop Foreman 2016  Performs tune-ups on airport vehicles as needed including emergency vehicles.

 Prepares and processes work orders.

 Assists Maintenance Administrator in ordering of parts to maintain proper stock.

 Ensure that the shop area is maintained in a neat and organized condition.

 Assists with maintaining order of garage and vehicle maintenance parking areas

 Responsible for maintaining parts and material inventories, issuing parts and supplies and performing inventory audits.

 Performs routine maintenance and repair of small engines and hand tools.

 Monitors fuel deliveries and transfers.

 Maintains fueling equipment and fuel inventories.

 Drives snow plow and snow removal equipment.

 Responsible for compliance with appropriate rules, regulations and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION /TRAINING A high school diploma or equivalent, with trade school or apprentice course work in automotive repair and four to five years of automotive mechanic experience or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

JD MAINTENANCE MECHANIC /Shop Foreman 2016 Experience in service and repair of automobiles, trucks, self- propelled vehicles, heavy equipment, tractors, farm equipment and small engines is preferred. Ability to operate necessary equipment, including but not limited to, forklifts, trucks, etc. Knowledge of standard materials, tools and equipment and skills in the use and care of tools required. Computer skills along with the familiarity of vehicle maintenance and inventory systems are required. Must possess and display a positive attitude and strong work ethics along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess a valid S.C. Driver’s License and must possess or obtain within 60 days of employment a State of South Carolina CDL Class B driver's license.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including various trucks, heavy equipment, hand and power tools, etc. Must be physically able to exert in excess of fifty pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to one hundred pounds. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; must be able to walk and stand for periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, push, pull and reach.
