Egg bungee jumping

The purpose of this lab is to gather data for KE, PEg, and PEe, oh yeah and have some fun while learning. You are to try and affix a bungee cord (of your making) to the egg or a container that holds the egg and to drop it from the railing on the second floor and have it get as close to but not touch the water in the container. You will be rewarded for your efforts with 2 grades. 1) The math of your endeavors + how close you actually get to the water & 2) If your egg survives (does not break).

Rules: (yeah there are always rules) 1) You must use only a grade “A” large chicken egg. 2) No modifications to the egg other than dressing it up or putting a face on it. So no hard boiled eggs, No frozen eggs, No taking the liquid out of the egg, No fingernail polish on the egg to strengthen the surface, nothing you got it? 3) Your container can be no bigger than the egg and I must not be able to fit a quarter in the box with your egg on any side, top, or bottom. 4) Your bungee cord has to retract (how else will we find elastic PE)

Material: I will provide you will provide Metric ruler egg Bowl/container container (if you use one) Stop watch home made bungee cord Balance to mass egg math skills Grader (me) participant (you)

Grade 1. If your egg dies (cracks, breaks to the point of liquid showing on the outside) you receive a 50, when your egg lives (does not crack, or break) you get 100.

2. You will do the math and fill in the data sheet that is on the back of this page and be awarded points for how close your egg gets to the water (see scale on the back of the paper). Group Members: ______Pd. _____
