1. Introductions

2. Coaches Update -- Fred Turoff

a. Meets (see attached schedule). i. Compulsory (levels 4-7) -- 5 meets for season (LVI, West Point, Pancott Invitational, Temple, Pa State (Level 4), Babcock). ii. Optional (levels 8-10) – LVI, Babcock, Blackjack (Vegas), TBI, Pancott Invitational., and Jr. Olympics. Optionals need to qualify for Nationals at Regionals. Some parents expressed interest in participating in Pacific Coast Meet in lieu of Blackjack. iii. Fewer meets on schedule because coaches would prefer to allow for more time between meets. b. Coach Positions: i. Optional – possible candidates include Richie Maguire; Danny Berlin (Long Island). Right now there are 13 optional boys coached by Theo Maes and Fred Turoff. Good ratio. ii. Compulsory -- Compulsory head coach/Temple University Women’s Hear Coach Aaron Murphy (“Murph”) will go to those meets where he does not have coaching conflict with his women’s collegiate meets, including LVI. New compulsory coach is Chris Wyatt. (former NCAA champion). Blake Collins, a current Temple collegiate gymnast coaches Level 4.

c. Rostering

i. Fred Turoff and Murph are evaluating gymnasts and will issue report cards and indicate at which level your gymnast should be competing. ii. Gymnast can change his level up to state meet.

d. Training Plans for Optionals

i. Fred has set up individual training plans for each optional gymnast.

1 ii. “Training plans” conditioning; but can’t do strength all the times (need to give body a break). Need to focus on flexibility too.

e. Gym Equipment

i. New Chalkeater (to eliminate chalk dust) is working, but gym still needs more cleaning, so Fred is considering making offer to parents to defray tuition costs by helping to clean the gym. ii. Everyone should remove shoes before crossing the gymnastics floor; this helps to keep the floor in good shape. Howard C. (Noah F.) observed that cheerleaders do not remove shoes. Fred said he has asked the head cheerleader to monitor his cheerleaders. (Parents should report any infractions to Fred or Murph).

3. Uniforms

a. Julianna Penneys (Shayne K.) graciously agreed to serve as uniform coordinator. b. All gymnasts have been sized and sizes confirmed. c. Julianna P. will handle uniform order and circulate list of available used uniform pieces among parents. Parents are responsible for their own transactions.

4. Finances -- Lee Morrow (Alec M.)

a. Overview of duties re: meets. Lee Morrow reports that we have $42,000 in TUBTPA account ($32,000 was earned at TBI). b. Lee explained how the proceeds from these meets are used. The money is earned for the benefit of the organization and will always belong to the organization, not the gymnast nor the individual parents/guardians of the gymnast. The organization allocates a percentage which may be used for a gymnast’s registration, coaching fees etc. Accordingly, if a gymnast is no longer a member of the team, the funds credited to that gymnast would remain with TUBGTPA. c. Annual dues will vary from level to level. (Generally speaking, the dues will increase as the gymnast advances). Hillary Galler (Alex G.) will estimate the fee for each level. After setting a reasonable reserve, Lee Morrow will estimate a per capita allocation per gymnast and then issue a statement which will indicate the amount of dues owed based on this fee schedule. If the per capita allocation exceeds the amount of dues owed, the organization will retain the difference. d. Lee suggested that Members consider setting aside funds for scholarships, although additional paperwork needs to be done with IRS to implement this process. e. After some discussion, the members passed a motion which was made by Debbie Williams (Rayner W.) and duly seconded: we will close out the 2007-

2 2008 season, allocate the proceeds among the eligible members and set up a Scholarship Committee to develop proposal for Scholarship, parameters and amounts. Stella Tsai (Atticus T-McC) and Joan Rosoff (Alexandre M.) agreed to participate on this committee. f. Lee Morrow will circulate statements to each TUBGTPA member.

5. Coaches Gifts: Last year TUBGTPA voted on coaches’ gifts which have yet to be given – Nick Iles ($50), Fred Turoff ($100), Theo Maes ($50), Aaron Murphy ($100), San Juan Jones ($100 for Borders). Bill Lee will make sure the coaches get their gifts. (Coach Greg Monaco already received his gift when he left for Springfield, MA).

6. TBI Meet -- Diane Eigner (Evan E.)

a. Meet coordinator Diane Eigner will contact committee chairs shortly to begin planning for TBI. Committees will take responsibility for different tasks such as Hospitality; Concessions; Decorations; Awards. This structure worked well at Regionals. b. Although all parents/guardians are required to do prep work for the TBI, it is evident that some parents/guardians contribute a lot more time than others do. We will consider whether we need to develop a new system for allocating credit among the parents/guardians. c. Members are encouraged to solicit sponsorships, which may become easier now the TUBGTPA is a 501(c)(3) organization. Howard Covenko (Noah F.). will circulate draft letter to potential sponsors.

7. Fundraising – Patti Adair (Nick A.)

a. Optional fundraising; all dollars raised by the parent will be allocated to his/her gymnast’s account. b. Fundraising efforts will include Holiday items and First Aid Kits. We also will consider participating in Roman Catholic Raffle ($7 a packet) which will yield significant cash prizes for winners. We can personalize the tickets we sell for this effort.

10. Senior Gift -- Bill Lee (Billy L.)

a. The parents association (TUBGTPA) has donated a monetary amount (approx. $1000) to the team on behalf of the graduating seniors. As with previous years, we again asked the coaches for input on a gift. They suggested that we provide a spring board for the optional team to use and a "barrel" for the younger compulsory boys to use to help with their training. Both items would provide many years of service to the team. Lastly, they also suggested that they could use more chalk. The total of these items would be $1000.

3 b. The TUBGTPA will award senior jackets to senior members of team, which, at this time, include Nick Sachetti, Najee Richardson and Nick Tagliaferro.
