You Will Be Expected to Learn and Respect Our Classroom Rules

Welcome to Mrs. Carle’s Math Class!

Math 8 and Integrated Algebra Course Expectations Windsor Middle School 2013 - 2014

It’s the beginning of another exciting school year! I am looking forward to a successful year!

Our Classroom Rules: You will be expected to learn and respect our classroom rules:

1.) Be Prompt- Be in your assigned seat and ready to work at the start of class!

2.) Be Prepared- Bring all required materials to class DAILY! Each class you should have:  Pencils  Three-ring binder with paper, notes, and completed homework  Calculator

3.) Be Polite- Be respectful, considerate, and polite to all people and property!

4.) Be Positive- Have a good attitude and try your best!

** You will be rewarded for following classroom rules!

**Not complying with classroom rules will result in disciplinary action such as parent phone call, lunch re-training, conference, principal referral, etc.

Attendance Policy: Good attendance is critical for success and understanding. If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to make up missed work.

Extra Help: Extra help is given during the day and after school. Let Mrs. Carle know if you need help on an assignment! Grading Policy: Grades are determined based on tests, quizzes, homework assignments, notebook checks, and material checks. The quarter grade calculation: 40% Tests 30% Quizzes 20% Homework 10% Notebook and Material Checks

Tests and Quizzes: Tests and quizzes will always be announced. Points for tests and quizzes will vary depending on the math unit being taught.

Homework: Homework will be given daily and will be due the following class day. Each homework assignment will be worth 2 points. Mrs. Carle will check homework and give points based on completeness. 2 points- Homework is complete Homework is brought to class the day it is due (not in locker or at home) Homework is neat Work is shown (all of above for full credit) 1 point- Homework is incomplete, but more than half done OR Homework is illegible OR No work is shown OR Used pen, instead of pencil 0 points- Less than half of the homework is done OR Homework is left in locker or at home

Notebook and Material Checks: For the entire year, notes and homework should be organized in your binder. Notebooks will be checked to be sure that notes/homework are thorough, neat, and that your math is correct. (It is important to make corrections to any notes/homework problem so you can study the correct way to solve the problems.)

Students should have required materials with them daily and a random materials check will be worth 5 points (having all required materials) or 0 points (not having all required materials.)

Note to Parents/Guardians: I believe open lines of communication are essential to learning. I will be in contact with parents, as necessary. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me through email at [email protected]. I look forward to meeting you at Open House!
