CLASSIFIED OBITUARY
THOMPSON, Mr. Lester, Jr. - Age 58, died Monday, June 6, 2002 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, June 7, 2002 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2:30PM. Eld. Charles Levy officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Thompson now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed after 12noon today. Mr. Lester Thompson, Jr. was born March 7, 1944 in Flint, Michigan, the oldest son of Lester and Naomi (Branch) Thompson, Sr. Lester attended Flint Schools, graduating in 1963 from Central High School. He was employed at Chevrolet V-8 Engine retiring in 1988. Many friends liked Lester. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Jacqueline (Cayton) Thompson; 2 sons, Darryl R. (Tameka) Thompson, and Rico (Kaccye) Ward; grandchildren, Shonte' Thompson, Darryl R. Thompson, Jr., Chasity Lay, Alana R. Thompson, Kiera Austin, and Keioshia Cook, all of Flint, Rico Ward, Jr of TN; father, Lester M. Thompson, Sr. of CA; step-father, Charlie Jenkins of flint; 6 sisters, Joyce M. Ikner of Hayward, CA, Gail Williams of Union City, CA, Terri (Ray) Owens of OK, Yolanda (Harold) Austin of St. Louis, MO, Charlene (Chester) Price and Gloria Eds, both of Flint; 5 brothers, Arvell Thompson, Sr. of San Jose, cA, Donald Wilson of San Jose, CA, John (Mattie) Jenkins of Flint, Larry (Cheryl) Jenkins and Willie (Vern) Jenkins, both of Memphis, TN; 5 aunts, Mary (Branch) Huntley of Flint, Margaret Harris of San Jose, CA, Lula Levy, Alice Stewart, and Izora (Cayton) Johnson of Flint; uncle, Morris Branch, Jr; 5 sisters-in-law, Jana (Robert) Durrett, Marilyn Smith of Flint, Marion Jenkins of Buffalo, NY, Debra Thompson and Lynn Thompson of San Jose, CA; 2 brothers-in-law, Augustus Cayton, Richard (Ardie) Cayton; many nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousins, Bernetta Pinson, Tina Branch, Robert Chambers of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi O. (Branch) Thompson-Jenkins; brothers, Dennis Thompson, Edward L. Smith; grandparents, Morris (Matilda) Branch, Sr.; and uncle, Roosevelt Branch. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Jagdish Shaw, Dr. Rizwan Danish, Dr. J. Katneni, and the Hurley Hospices Nurses.
