From: Centennial Salute Committee on Business, Civic/Civil Rights and Politics To: All Brothers of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Dear Brothers,

The Centennial Salute Committee on Business, Civic/Civil Rights and Politics is charged with presenting a one-hour award program during the 2011 Centennial Grand Conclave of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. on Thursday, July 28, 2011. The program will give tribute to outstanding brothers who have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for humankind, domestically, nationally, and globally.

Each of the individuals selected to receive the awards espouse the core values of the fraternity as envisioned by our esteem founders, and exemplify a lifelong commitment of progressing the fraternity’s goals in business, civic and political communities. The centennial honorees are Omega Men who have consistently achieved success and are viewed not only for their individual achievements, but also for the achievements that they have inspire (d) in others. Given their efforts, it is appropriate that these Omega Men be honored for their service and sacrifice on behalf of Omega and the nation during the Centennial Celebration of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Centennial Civic/Civil Rights Nominees

The mission of the Civic/Civil Rights Committee is to identify, select and recognize brothers who are servant minded and advocates for positive change with a special Centennial Grand Conclave award to be presented during the awards program. These brothers, proven by their work and demonstrated example, have set a standard for service. They faithfully encourage (d) a sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspire (d) others to make service a central part of their lives.

In order to accomplish this mission, the Civic/Civil Rights Committee is requesting that members of the Supreme Council and Brothers of the Fraternity submit nominees of their choice

4/10/2011 to the Centennial Salute Committee on Business, Civic/Civil Rights and Politics no later than April 22, 2011.

The basis for consideration of a Brother to be honored as a Century Honoree in the Civic/Civil Rights category is directly connected to Article II Purpose; Specifically paragraphs (d) and (f) of the Constitution of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Article II Purpose (d) Occupy a progressive, helpful and constructive place in civic and political life, domestically and internationally.

(f) Aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status.

The following criteria are expected for both Civil and Civil Rights nominees:

1. Each nominee must practice and demonstrate the Four Cardinal Principles in addition to exhibiting high Ethical Standards. 2. In the area of Civil service, such as fire service and policing, the nominee must have distinguished themselves in those professions in extraordinary ways, nationally and/or internationally. 3. In the area of Civil Rights, the nominee must have distinguished themselves in the fight for civil and human rights. Emphasis will be placed on notable accomplishments that have resulted in constructive change, nationally and/or internationally.

Note: The nominee’s contributions and achievements must be verifiable by job descriptions (fire service, policing, etc.), professional publications, news articles, commendations and other sources of information of validation.

The nominator is responsible for submitting to the Civic/Civil Rights Committee, material that clearly documents why the nominee should be considered for the award. The nominator must summarize the nominee’s accomplishments and contributions within the space provided on the nomination form and within the page limit permitted for supporting documents.

All nomination materials must be postmarked by April 22, 2011.
