Oral Presentation #2

Oral Presentation #2 ¿Cómo eras de niño/a?

Situation: You have a summer job at a guardería infantil and several students speak Spanish. They are always asking you what you were like when you were their age.

Prepare: 1) Select photos from your childhood. Display them in some creative manner (on a poster, in a PowerPoint, etc.). For the items that you do not a have a picture to illustrate, you may use clip art or draw pictures. 2) Next, brainstorm about your childhood. Think about the following things: a. What were you like? (¿Cómo eras?) b. What activities did you like to do? (¿Qué te gustaba hacer cuando eras joven?) c. What were you not allowed to do? (Mis padres no me permitían…) d. What were your favorite toys? (¿Cuáles juguetes eran tus favoritos?) e. What were your chores? (¿Qué eran tus quehaceres?) f. Who were your best friends? (¿Quiénes eran tus amigos mejores?) 3) Write a draft of what you will say in your oral presentation. You may only write NOTES on notecards (not your whole presentation). Keep in mind that the less dependent you are on your notes, the better grade you will receive.

Practice: Go through your oral presentation several times. Your oral presentation should be 1½ - 3 minutes long. If it is too short or far too long, you will lose points. Be sure to:  Provide as much information as you can about each question above.  Use the IMPERFECT tense.  Rehearse with a family member or friend.  Use complete sentences.  Speak clearly and with correct Spanish pronunciation.

Present: In class, you will draw numbers for presentation order. Over the course of a few class periods, every student will present to the class. During your oral presentation, use your visual aide (poster, mobile, etc.) as much as possible. The more you show your photos or drawings, the better.

Evaluation: Sra. Polson will give you a rubric for how your presentation will be graded. Use the rubric to ensure you have all necessary requirements.
