Dominoes with a Slight Twist

Division Dominoes –. (for up to 4 players.)

1. Put all the dominoes face down on the table and carefully move them around to shuffle them. 2. Each player takes 6 pieces and holds them secretly in their hands. 3. The highest double (6:6, or 5:5 and so on) starts the game. 4. Take turns to place a number on one side of a domino to a matching number of dots on the table. 5. Each time a player puts a piece on the table, they take another from the spare ones which are face down. Do this until there are none left to take. 6. If you do not have a matching number you miss a go.

Scoring To score points you have got to add the dots at the far ends of the game pieces. If the dots add up to a number that is exactly divisible by one or both of your TARGET NUMBERS, you move forward by that factor. See the examples below:

The first piece is the highest double that anyone has got. In this case a 6:6 Total dots at either side is 6 + 6 = 12. Target numbers for this game are 5 and 3. 12 is not divisible exactly by 5 but it is by 3. There are four 3s in 12. Score = 4.

The second player puts 6:1 down. Total sum of dots at either end is 6+6+1 = 13. You do not add the dots in the middle. 13 is not divisible exactly by 5 or 3 so no score.

The third player puts 4:6 down. Total sum of dots at each end is now 4+1=5. (Don’t add the middle numbers) 5 is not divisible exactly by 3, but there is one 5 in 5, so score=1.

Use the score sheet on the other side. When you finish one game, keep your scores on the board and play another game, adding to your scores, until someone reaches the finish line. You will need some counters.

TARGET NUMBERS Agree on your target numbers before each game. Choose from: 5 and 3, or 5 and 2, or 2 and 3, or 5 and 4. FINISH FINISH
