JOB DESCRIPTION

Director of Ministries

Position: Full-time, salaried Reports to: Executive Pastor

Department: Ministry Operations

Assist Senior Pastor by focusing on ministry operations/development as well as volunteer recruitment. Director of Ministries equips and develops the congregation in the areas of assimilation in the church and ministry development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

GENERAL . Pray for Senior Pastor, ministerial and administrative staff and Church family. . Support the financial obligations of the church through tithe and offerings. . Be early and prepared for all scheduled meetings. . Represent Pastor at requested meetings and conferences (may require giving presentations). . Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with Staff/non-staff workers, church membership, business partners and community at large. . Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor and/or Executive Pastor

LIAISON TO SENIOR PASTOR . Provide pertinent information concerning membership and ministry coordination and trends. . Support Senior Pastor by attending special engagements and traveling to guest churches.

. Perform wedding, funerals, baby dedications, house blessings and any other assigned engagement upon Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor’ss request. . Must be available at all times to assist senior pastor with preaching and teaching duties upon request. . Shares with the other leaders of the church the responsibility to champion the doctrine, mission and the vision of The Luke.

. Responsible for overseeing the ministry experience of the weekly worship experiences (briefing, ministry support, overflow, script management, etc.)

. Responsible for serving as the lead volunteer coordinator ensuring that volunteers are recruited, developed and deployed into various areas of the church as needs arise such as outreach, special events, office support, etc.

. Serves Senior Pastor in areas of training and giftedness as requested.

MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT AND OVERSIGHT  In light of our church’s outward focus, develops a process of assimilation that enables newcomers to become integrated into the life, membership and ministries of the church. This includes oversight of the new member assimilation activitesactivities (i.e. new member reception, New Believer’s Courses, LinkedIn Experience, and Serve Nights).

 Responsible for the development and oversight of ministries of The Luke according to the ministry operations manual.

 Responsible for ensuring all ministry events are conducted according to our philosophy of kb=e3.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION . Requires a bachelor's degree with at least 5-7 years experience in either ministry or management fields. . Demonstrates expertise and resourcefulness in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. . Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. . Performs a variety of tasks. . Leads and directs the work of others. . A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. . Must possess the following skills: strategic planning, verbal and written communication, motivation, customer service, conflict resolution, multitasking, and project management. . Must demonstrate the ability to receive instruction, interpret it, develop a plan of action, and communicate to necessary parties. . Must be a self-motivated person who is able to be effective when working independently without supervision and produce results. . Must have superb organizational skills, be a systematic thinker, and team player. . Must possess a gentle and humble spirit and be willing to grow and be taught. . Self-discipline regarding personal time usage, and spiritual, physical and emotional health. . Should have a heart for knowing God personally, for following Christ as a servant, and for keeping in step with the Spirit. . Should have a burden to see The Luke fulfill God’s plan as it continues to expand and minister in the Humble and Houston area. . As a leader and example to the congregation, the Pastor should live a life of integrity in growing conformity to the standards of spiritual leadership set forth in Scripture (I Timothy 3:1-7). . Should have the calling, gifts, vocational experience, and educational background necessary o Lead and equip the people in a ministry of care, o Develop and implement a strategy to accomplish the vision for the programs, o De able to provide counsel to those in need,

o A Master of Divinity degree from a recognized seminary is required . A Christian in full agreement with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church’s statement of faith; willingness and ability to serve Christ and His church; spiritually mature. . Of utmost importance is a heart that is “wired for people” and thrives on nurturing and developing others.
