GAME NOTES  Last Week : BGHS scored the most points ever in the short series against Henderson County, defeating the Colonels, 55-7. BGHS had nine players score, including six who scored touchdowns in the contest. The Purples tallied 545 yards of total offense in only 45 offensive plays in the game. Henderson County was the second straight opponent who had beaten BGHS in their last meeting. The Purples will play two more schools (Warren Central and Lexington Catholic) who also own victories against BGHS in their last contests.  BGHS vs. OHS: This will be the 70th meeting between BGHS and OHS. Play between the two schools started in 1932. Despite trailing in the all-time series record, the Purples have won three in a row and 11 of the past 15 meeting between the two schools. In fact, BGHS is 18-6 against the Red Devils since 1986.  Rankings : Bowling Green continues to be ranked highly by most ranking systems in Kentucky. BGHS is currently ranked #1 in Class 5A by the Associated Press, Cantrall Ratings, and Bluegrass Preps. The Purples are ranked #2 behind John Hardin in the Litratings and Max Preps.  600 WINS : With the first victory of the season, BGHS became the 13th school in KY to reach 600 wins in school history. The current football record at BGHS is 603-328-35 (.647).  BGHS Head Coach Kevin Wallace is 164-35 (.824) at BGHS and 209-96 (.685) overall as a head coach in Kentucky. Friday will mark Wallace’s 200th game as head coach at BGHS.  Player Highlights: SR RB Hunter Neveras had 109 yards rushing and one touchdown on only nine carries against Henderson County. Neveras also hauled in an 80-yard scoring strike from SR QB Scooter Hollis. Hollis continued his stellar play in 2011 by completing 6 of 9 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Hollis also rushed for 43 yards on the night. SO RB Blake Pillow rushed for a career high 55 yards on 6 carries and scored once. Other Sophomores who tallied touchdowns on the evening included Blue Tisdale, Nacarius Fant, and Danny Dewalt. SR S’s Jackson Sowell and Michael Bailey had big nights on the defensive side of the ball. Sowell had 7 tackles and a sack while Bailey had 6 tackles, 1 assists, 3 tackles for loss, caused a fumble, and had a fumble recovery.
