MARY’S 7 Max Weisenberg, Bryant QUINNIPIAC 20, Bellarmine 7 So., M, Long Beach, NY/Long Beach WAGNER 8, VMI 7 (OT) Weisenberg scored four goals to lead the Bulldogs on the week, including scoring a game-high three goals and ROBERT MORRIS 12, SACRED HEART 10 adding an assist to lead Bryant to a 9-7 win over No. 11 Yale Saturday night on the road, marking the program's first-ever victory over a nationally ranked opponent since joining the Division I ranks. He added another goal BRYANT 9, #11 Yale 7 against Holy Cross. Against Yale, Weisenberg recorded his sixth hat trick of the season, all three tallies coming Home Team Underlined in the first half. The sophomore leading scorer got the Bulldogs on the board just 13 seconds into the contest, picking up the ground ball off the opening faceoff and carrying it down the field to convert on the first shot of the game. He then scored back-to-back goals spanning the first and second periods, the first coming with 16 NEC Player of the Week seconds left on the clock to put BU up for good, 3-2, and the last coming just 1:10 into the second quarter. All Mar. 15 Trevor Moore, RMU (Player of the Month) three goals were unassisted. He made eight NEC Defensive Player of the Week more saves against Holy Cross Tuesday night. Against Yale, the sophomore made four stops in the final period to keep Yale from making a comeback. Love limited an offense that came off a 14-goal game to just seven and also Mar. 15 Jameson Love, BU (Player of the Month) picked up three ground balls in the game and four on the week. The netminder allowed just a single man-up goal Mar. 22 Kevin Benzing, QU in seven opportunities between the two outings while facing 56 shots on the week for a .533 save percentage and 7.00 goals against average. DiBartolo, MSM Mason Poli, Bryant Apr. 26 Jameson Love, BU Fr., D, Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East Poli has been a rising star for the Bulldogs not just among freshmen, but among all poles as well. He scored a goal in each of the last two games for the Bulldogs, including recording the first goal of his career Tuesday night NEC Rookie of the Week against Holy Cross. He also scored an unassisted goal with 6:49 to go in the second as part of a four-goal streak Mar. 15 JK Poirier, BU (Player of the Month) for Bryant. The freshman scored another tally in BU's 9-7 win over No. 11 nationally ranked Yale Saturday night, Mar. 22 Brett Schmidt, MSM also chipping in an assist in the contest. The defenseman then scored to open third-period play to put the Bulldogs up, 7-3, after forcing a big Yale turnover in BU's defensive end. Poli's helper came with 13:33 to play Mar. 29 Peter McMahon, BU in the second after he fought to win a key ground ball off the faceoff to give BU a 5-2 lead. The Pennsylvanian was part of a man-down defense that allowed just a single goal in seven EMO attempts between the two contests, and he had two shots, both going on target Apr. 12 Peter McMahon, BU and finding net for a 1.000 shot percentage on the week. ACC 1-3 Bryant (9-5, 3-0 NEC) America East 2-2 The Bulldogs earned the program's biggest win since joining the Division I ranks with a 9-7 victory over Big East 2-2 Colonial 1-2 No. 11 Yale Saturday on the road, marking the program's first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent ECAC 7-4 (DI). Sophomore Max Weisenberg (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) led the Bulldogs with four goals Independents 2-2 and an assist on the week, including recording his sixth hat trick of the season against Yale, also adding a Ivy 1-2 helper. Weisenberg also picked up a team-best seven ground balls on the week. Junior Matt Larson MAAC 10-7 Patriot 1-5 (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) added two goals and an assist on the week, both tallies coming against Yale, Total 27-30 including the eventual game winner with 8:31 to play in the third. Linemate Gary Crowley (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) recorded four points off three goals on the week, scoring twice against the Elis Saturday. Senior captain Andrew Hennessey (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) was integral in both contests, going a combined 22-for-34 from the faceoff X, including winning 12-of-19 against Yale Saturday night. Sophomore goalie Jameson Love (Darien, CT/Darien) posted a pair of strong performances, making 16 stops on the week, eight in each game. Love made four of his eight saves in the fourth quarter against the Elis to keep Yale from making a comeback. The stock of rookie defenseman Mason Poli (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) continued to rise as the frosh scored his first career goal Tuesday against the Crusaders and followed it with a two-point performance against Yale, scoring one and assisting on another. Sophomore Travis Harrington (Vestal, NY/Vestal) chipped in three scores for Bryant on the week, leading the Bulldogs against Holy Cross Tuesday with a pair of tallies. Another pair of rookies in Peter McMahon (Wilton, CT/Wilton) and JK Poirier (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) each chipped in two points apiece on the 1-1 week. The Bryant defense allowed just a single man-up goal in seven attempts between the two outings. Mount St. Mary’s (8-4, 3-0 NEC) Mount St. Mary's defeated Saint Joseph's, 18-8, on Wednesday before being stunned by a late Siena rally in an 8-7 loss on Saturday. Against Saint Joseph's, the Mount exploded for 10 goals over the final 21 minutes to earn the win. Jake Willertz and Andrew Scalley (Arnold, MD/Archbishop Spalding) each had four goals in the win while Cody Lehrer (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney) produced three goals and two assists. In the loss to Siena, the Mount held a 7-4 lead with nine minutes left in the game only to see Siena rally for the win. Lehrer had a hat trick to pace the Mount while sophomore Bryant Schmidt (Great Mills, MD/St. Mary's Ryken) added two goals and two assists for the Mountaineers. Lehrer now has 41 goals on the season, the ninth-best single-season mark in MSM history and the most since Matt Warner's school-record 52 in 2003. Ben Trapp won 64.3 percent of his face-offs this week and averaged 9.0 ground balls per game. Trapp is averaging 6.33 ground balls per game this season (76 in 12 games) and is averaging 9.0 ground balls per game over the past six contests. Scalley's 31 points this year (17g, 14a) are the most by a freshman since Dan Mohr had 35 points (26g, 9a) in 2008. MSM rounds out the regular season with a home game against VMI on Wednesday before heading to Marist on Saturday. Quinnipiac (6-5, 1-0 NEC) The Bobcats cruised to a 20-7 victory over Bellarmine in Hamden on Saturday. Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, PA/Germantown Academy) scored a career-high six goals, second-most in program Division I history, trailing only Alan Loguidice's two seven-goal performances in 2001. Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, NY/Onondaga C.C.) added five assists, tying the program Division I record. Kevin Kelly (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) contributed five points of his own with three goals and two assists, while Billy Alessi (Branford, CT) made it three hat tricks for the Bobcats with three goals. Basil Kostaras (Southlake, TX/Episcopal School of Dallas) also chipped in with a goal and two assists, while Zach Pall (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) had a goal and an assist. Pall also won 11-of-13 face-offs to push his season winning percentage to .607. Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) made 12 saves on 18 opportunities to earn the win in net for the Bobcats. QU returns to action Tuesday, when they travel to Fairfield, CT, to face intrastate rival Sacred Heart. Opening face-off from is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Robert Morris (9-4, 1-2 NEC) The Colonials improved their record to 9-4 with a close 12-10 win over the Sacred Heart Pioneers last week. RMU trailed 6-4 after the first-half, but a strong second half showing pulled them ahead of the Pioneers to earn the win. Corbyn Tao-Brambleby (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia/Western Reserve Academy), Patrick Smith and Trevor Moore (Port Coquitlam, British Colum- bia /Western Reserve Academy) all captured hat tricks in the victory. Moore has now improved his point scoring streak to 28 games and Tao-Brambleby has collected eight hat tricks this season, which is tied second in the nation for the most hat tricks. RMU continues to lead the nation with 15.58 points per game and is ranked fifth in the nation with a .516 conversion percentage for man-up offense. Moore leads the Colonials with 54 points and is ranked ninth in the nation with 4.25 points per game. Tao-Brambleby is ranked sixth in the nation with 2.83 goals per game and leads RMU with 37 goals. Jordon Sealock continues to lead RMU's defense and is ranked 14th in the nation with 1.83 caused turnovers per game and has collected 22 so far this season. RMU returns to action on Saturday, May 1 when they take on No. 1 Virginia. Sacred Heart (3-9, 1-3 NEC) SHU dropped a 12-10 decision to Robert Morris at home on Saturday. Senior Jon Flood (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) led the Pioneers attack with three scores. Classmate Evan Morgan (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) added three assists to lift his team-leading total to 13. In the cage, senior Tom Trgo (N. Merrick, NY/Calhoun) was spectacular as he made 20 saves to keep the Pioneers in the game. It was his second highest save total of the season and 10th game reaching double figures. Trgo also added a score for Sacred Heart. He fired the ball down field on a clearing attempt and the ball continued to roll into and open RMU net to tie the score at eight with just over eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The Pioneers are in action twice this week as they host Quinnipiac and St. John's for their final two home games of the year. Wagner (1-10, 0-4 NEC) Senior midfielder Sean Travis (Calverton, NY/Riverhead) scored an unassisted goal with 22 seconds remaining in overtime to lift Wagner to a come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Virginia Military Academy (VMI). This was the Seahawks first win of the season. The Seahawks trailed 6-3 early in the fourth before mounting their game-winning rally. Junior midfielder Tim Schweitzer (Babylon, NY/ Babylon) began the rally with an unassisted goal with 13:43 left to play. Freshman midfielder Colin O’Rourke (Worcester, Ma/St. John’s Shrewsbury) then drew WC to within one goal at 6-5 off an assist by freshman attackman Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, PA/ Episcopal Academy). The Seahawks, who were 3-of-6 in extra man opportunities, out-shot VMI 42-31. The Keydets held a 29-25 lead in ground balls while winning 13-of-19 face-offs. Peter Rubin (East Rockaway, NY/East Rockaway) had five saves in goal for the Seahawks.
