A total of 737 clubs entered the FFA Cup 2019, a number that has significantly grown from the first edition of the FFA Cup in 2014, when 617 clubs entered. The FFA Cup 2019 started in February with the Preliminary Rounds to determine the 21 clubs from the semi-professional and amateur tiers. These clubs joined ten of the Hyundai A-League clubs (Western United FC will not participate in this edition) and the reigning National Premier Leagues Champions (Campbelltown City SC) in the Final Rounds. The FFA Cup Final 2019 will be played on Wednesday 23 October with the host city to be determined by a live draw. Each cup tie must be decided on the day, with extra time to decide results of matches drawn after 90 minutes, followed by penalties if required. At least one Member Federation club is guaranteed to progress to the Semi Finals. Previous winners of the FFA Cup are Adelaide United (2014 and 2018), Melbourne Victory (2015), Melbourne City FC (2016) and Sydney FC (2017). Broadcast partners – FOX SPORTS FOX SPORTS will again provide comprehensive coverage of the FFA Cup 2019 Final Rounds. The FFA Cup’s official broadcaster will show one LIVE match per match night from the Round of 32 onwards, while providing coverage and updates, as well as live streams, of non-broadcast matches. -

RAAF Base Darwin is located on 1,278ha within Darwin City Council limits and is approximately 4.5km north east of the Darwin Central Business District. Sport Handbook 26 APRIL – 4 MAY 2019 Heading The Arafura Games The Northern Territory Government is bringing back the Arafura Games to leverage the cultural, economic and social benefits of an international sporting event. The Arafura Games began as the Arafura Sports Festival in 1991 with 1,500 athletes competing in seven sports. From 1998 it was known as the Arafura Games and was held every two years. The Arafura Games was a well-developed international multi-sport event that attracted participants from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, with the 2011 events attracting 1,600 visiting athletes. The Arafura Games fostered goodwill between sporting neighbours and shared sporting and cultural knowledge within the Asia-Pacific region. Significantly, the Arafura Games also provided Northern Territory sporting organisations with the opportunity to develop facilities, coaches, officials as well as athletes. In terms of community engagement, the Arafura Games recruited over 1,000 local and interstate volunteers to support the event and also provided opportunity for interaction with local primary and secondary schools. As Minister for the Arafura Games I thank you all for taking part in what promises to be a colourful, competitive clash of world-class athletes, including some of our best home-grown talent. As someone who has taken part in the Arafura Games as a competitor in swimming and as a volunteer and organiser, I know what a special event this is and look forward to welcoming people from all over the world to our shores. The Northern Territory enjoys close relationships with a number of countries and we hope to build on those friendships and create more through this showcase of what the Territory has to offer. -

Significantly, the Arafura Games also provided the Northern Territory sporting organisations with the opportunity to develop facilities, coaches, officials as well as athletes. After an eight year hiatus, the Northern Territory Government has brought back the Games which presents opportunities to showcase our unique arts, culture, history and trade and investment links. It is an event through which friendship and understanding between competing nations and the Northern Territory is fostered. The Arafura Games 2019 will feature 17 sport disciplines, including, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3X3 Pro Hustle, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Football, Indoor Volleyball, Muaythai, Netball, Sailing, Sepak Takraw, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Weightlifting, An integrated para program will be included in Athletics, Swimming, Tennis and Table Tennis. -

The Darwin Major Business Group was formed by 14 major businesses in January 2017. It was established for major business to have a strong coordinated voice to inform and influence Government and to share information among member businesses. Darwin Major Business Group members have a record of investment and their future success is strongly linked to the performance of the Darwin and Top End economies. The Darwin Major Business Group has invested $2B in the Darwin economy in the 5 years to 2017 and has similar investment plans for the next 5 years. It has a combined employment of over 4,000.
