Nothing warms up the chilly holiday season like the promise of a hot summer tour, and concert tickets make the perfect gift. The legendary artists will cross the U.S. starting Friday, June 15, 2018 in Bangor, ME at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion. All three bands are led by Englishmen Mick Jones, David Coverdale and Jason Bonham who are part of the fabric of British rock, and will bring a summer of great music across the country. Foreigner’s 40th Anniversary tour was one of last summer’s best selling runs. Tickets for the “Juke Box Heroes Tour” go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, December 8th at 10am local time at LiveNation.com. Tickets for Foreigner VIP packages including Meet & Greets with the band will be available at ForeignerVIP.com. As Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale says, “We are truly excited and looking forward to playing in 2018 with our friends, Foreigner and Jason Bonham, on their North American tour.” Says Jason Bonham, "Being part of Foreigner’s 40th Anniversary Tour last summer was wonderful. Opening a show like that was very special to me, so when Mick asked if I’d do it again in 2018, I said yes without hesitation. I’m excited that Whitesnake will be filling out the middle slot this time as I’ve known David since I was 14 years old. It’s going to be a WHOLE LOTTA FUN!" Since the 1977 release of their first hit “Feels Like The First Time” and their self-titled debut album on Atlantic Records, FOREIGNER has been universally hailed as one of the world’s most popular rock acts with 10 multi-Platinum albums, 16 Top 30 hits, and worldwide album sales exceeding 75 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold as Ice,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Urgent,” “Head Games,” “Say You Will,” and the worldwide #1 hit, “I Want To Know What Love Is,” FOREIGNER continues to rock the charts forty years into the game with massive airplay and continued Billboard “Top 200 Albums” chart success. FOREIGNER also features strongly in every category in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time” listing. Catalog sales often eclipse those of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Aerosmith, and most of their Classic Rock peers. (Source: Nielsen SoundScan week ending 8/3/17). FOREIGNER’s catalog sales were recently celebrated in Business Insider as hitting the Top 40 among the Best Selling Music Artists of All Time ahead of Britney Spears, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, and Bon Jovi. Throughout this tour, FOREIGNER will continue their long-standing partnership with The GRAMMY Museum, by which local school choirs are invited to join the band on stage in almost every market they play. Through this program over the past several years, the band has raised well into the six figures for music in school programs, and given thousands of students a life-changing experience to rock on stage with one of the most well known bands of all time. The band recently released a celebratory 40th anniversary album that features 40 tracks tracing their distinguished career. Entitled 40, the album is a comprehensive compilation of original hits and several tracks from the current lineup, with Kelly Hansen on vocals. All tracks were recorded between 1977 and 2017. The current line-up is Mick Jones (lead guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, saxophone, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar), and Chris Frazier (drums). Founded in 1978 by former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale, WHITESNAKE has earned multi-Platinum status for numerous albums, including TROUBLE, LOVEHUNTER, READY AND WILLING and COME AN’ GET IT, as well as the album that introduced the explosive hard rock revamped WHITESNAKE sound with SLIDE IT IN. The band is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1987’s self-titled multi-Platinum smash hit album, WHITESNAKE. From these albums came multiple Top 10 hits worldwide, including two #1 singles with “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love,” as well as the unforgettable hammer of “Still Of The Night,” all leading to virtual 24-hour domination of MTV around the globe. Bombast, bravado, talent and passion have helped establish WHITESNAKE as the perennial platinum favorite they have become and they’re back with a vengeance in 2018. The world- renowned group featuring David Coverdale (vocals), Reb Beach (guitar), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Michele Luppi (keyboards) are currently in the studio recording their tentatively titled new studio album FLESH & BLOOD. Following his participation in the monumental reunion of Led Zeppelin at London’s O2 arena in 2007, drummer Jason Bonham decided to take the music his father was such a huge part of out on the road. The result became Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. Best described as a band that perfectly recreates the music of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening not only celebrates one of music’s most iconic bands but also the life of Bonham's late father, who died in 1980. When asked why he decided to start the project, Jason said, "It was medicine to relieve myself from the amount of Led Zeppelin that I had studied and rehearsed prior to the O2 show and then dealing with the realization that it wasn’t going to go anywhere beyond that one concert. It originally began as me just wanting to put together a show, but once I realized I could make it more than just the music it became something more. It gave me the opportunity to give a little nod to what everyone knows about my dad’s wild side but also show his sensitive side as well. For me, he was always dad at home and this was an idea to show a deeper side of that." Check out the tour at any of the following stops, with more dates to be announced in the coming weeks and posted on FOREIGNER‘s official website. PERFORMED IDENTITIES: HEAVY METAL MUSICIANS BETWEEN 1984 AND 1991 Bradley C. Klypchak A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY May 2007 Committee: Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Dr. John Makay Graduate Faculty Representative Dr. Ron E. Shields Dr. Don McQuarie © 2007 Bradley C. Klypchak All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

Strange Kind of Woman Hush Speed King The first known Purple tribute was recorded as early as 1972. An unknown, starving band named Thin Lizzy (which consisted of Bell, Downey & Lynott) were offered a lump sum of money to record some Deep Purple songs. (The album contains also a few non-DP tracks.) They did - with the help from two Irish guys. The album came out in early 1973. It wasn't a success. In February, Thin Lizzy had a top ten hit with a single of their own. Read more about it here. T h e R o b e rt A . A n d S A n d ra S . b o R n S J ew i S h S T u d i e S P Ro g ra m Annual Magazine I Volume 47 I Fall 2019 From the Director “Continuity and change” might serve as the title for almost any year in the life of a Jewish Studies Program (JSP). Every year, we bid a sad farewell to wonderful graduating majors — like our remarkable seniors Harry Aaronson, Michelle Bennett, Naomi Farahan, Jordan Schiff and Margo Wagner. And every year, we are excited at the prospect of new majors entering the program; this fall, we’re particularly pleased that eight talented young individuals — many of them supported with generous scholarships — will be joining the JS B.A. class of 2023 from all over the USA, from Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Nebraska, and Washington. But this year, “continuity and change” has a deeper resonance for the Program than usual. I can’t think of a stronger symbol of continuity than our celebration of Alvin Rosenfeld’s 50 years at IU. To prepare my remarks for the event, generously hosted by Sandra and Bob Borns in the gorgeous Grand Hall at Union Station – Crowne Plaza in Indianapolis, I looked back through the JS archives. I was struck again by what a remarkable achievement it was to invent this world-leading program in south central Indiana. Of course, it wasn’t Alvin’s work alone – many friends, donors, faculty, and staff played a part — and in April, so many of them were on Mark Roseman hand to share in the moment and to witness President Michael McRobbie bestowing on our founding director the President’s Medal for Excellence, IU’s most prestigious award.

During 2013, we further grew our unmatched concerts global fan base by 10 million fans, attracting almost 60 million fans to our concerts. This tremendous growth fueled our sponsorship and ticketing businesses with Ticketmaster managing nearly 4400 million total tickets in 2013. Combined, we delivered a record year for revenue, AOI and free cash flow. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of our business model, establishing Live Nation as what we believe to be the number one player in each of our businesses, with concerts driving our flywheel, which is then monetized across our high margin on-site, sponsorship and ticketing businesses. Strong Fan Demand for Live Events We continue to see the tremendous power of live events, with strong global consumer demand. Research shows that live events are a high priority for discretionary spending, and over 80% of our fans surveyed indicate that they plan on attending the same or more events in 2014 as in 2013. Another sign of the strength of our business is that 85% of Live Nation’s fan growth came organically, from our promoting more shows in amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums; from launching new festivals; and from establishing operatioons in new markets.

Agent Provocateur, 1984 laissera une place conséquente aux claviers et placera encore quelques hymnes (I Wanna Know What Love Is, That Was Yesterday) dans les charts mondiaux.

  • GRADUATION 2015 Presentation Speech for Bernie Marsden for The
GRADUATION 2015 Presentation speech for Bernie Marsden for the honorary degree of Master of Arts of the University honoris causa Chancellor, over the centuries, Buckingham has been the birth place of many famous people. The list is remarkably wide ranging and includes the actress Gillian Blake, the theologian William Goode, the cricketer Wyndham Hazleton, the politician Francis Ingoldsby, the architect George Gilbert Scott and the speed skater John Tipper. Today, however, there can be little doubt that the best known of all is our honorand - the rock and blues singer and guitarist, Bernie Marsden. To most people in Buckingham, Bernie Marsden is synonymous with Whitesnake, the hard rock band he joined in 1978, playing on eight albums, from Snakebite to Saints and Sinners. He wrote or co-wrote many of the group’s hit songs, such as Here I Go Again. Following his departure from Whitesnake, he formed a new band which later became Bernie Marsden’s Alaska, which released two rock albums, Heart of the Storm and The Pack. More recently, he has been involved in some unusual projects, notably two engagements at the National Theatre for Nickolas Hytner’s productions of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and Henry V. In 2012, he performed at the premier of Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise and featuring the Whitesnake hit ‘Here I Go again on my Own.’ He has also produced a blues documentary, A Day in the Delta. Bernie Marsden’s new album, ‘Shine’ was released in August 2014, reaching the number 1 spot on the iTunes blues chart.

Livereview: Whitesnake - Kharma 16. Man durfte also ge- spannt sein!
