The university has kept manifesting its legacy of national movements whenever nation faced crisis. Since its establishment, Jamia marches ahead to attain its mission through a goal of blending contemporary knowledge with skills and values in true spirit to groom high caliber thinkers; morally upright and physically sound citizenry inspired with proactive approach to take up challenges confronting the present society and prove productive individuals in ever changing knowledge society with a factor of care. JMI has become an ensemble of a multilayered educational system which covers all aspects of schooling, under-graduate, post-graduate, Ph.D. and post-doctoral education. With 9 faculties of learning, 39 teaching and research departments, over 30 centres of learning and research, 190 courses, approximately 800 faculty members and more than 20000 students we attract brightest young minds from all over the country. They use creative space of JMI to actualize their potential. JMI today holds the torch of illumination giving shape to ideas and fostering innovation. Living up to the promises of the founding fathers, we strive to realize our vision “to create a human universe that offers inclusiveness, equity, fellowship, justice and peace for one and all”. During prevailing Pandemic Covid-19 situation, JMI could be able to establish Online Automation system for students related affairs. This resulted in the regular engagement of teachers and students through online mode of teaching and learning process. The staff of the Office of the Controller of Examinations also worked hard for timely conduct of examinations and declaration of the results which made our students eligible for getting job opportunities at National and International level. Apart from this, the interested students got their admission in higher studies in the reputed National/ International Institutions. JMI in its 100th year has been ranked as best Indian Central University by the Ministry of Education in the list of 40 central universities. JMI is placed at 10th in the universities category Ranking of NIRF. Establishment Jamia Millia Islamia, a Public Central University established in 1920, originally at Aligarh in United Provinces. It was initially moved to Karol Bagh in 1925, Delhi and later built up in Jamia Nagar. In 1988, it became Central University by an Act of Parliament, since then expanding in different directions achieving the new dimensions. The University is the result of the tireless efforts of its founders, such as Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Abdul Majeed Khwaja and Dr. Zakir Husain. It symbolizes the unflinching and resolute commitment of these great visionaries in bringing about socio-economic transformation of common masses in general and Muslims in particular through the vehicle of education.
