MAAG, Ted William Maag Ted William Maag was born Sept. 13, 1952, died Sept. 13, 2015. Interred in Section 3, Site 1153 of the Sarasota National Cemetery. MAAS, Richard Wesley Maas (Abstracted from https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion/obituary.aspx?n=richard-wesley-maas-rich&pid=174488995) Richard (Rich) Wesley Maas died peacefully in his home on March 18, 2015 at the age of 60 after a long bout with Multiple Myeloma. Rich is survived by his wife, April; his sons, Jimmy of Jacksonville, Wesley (Alison Lingerfelt Maas), granddaughters, Emerson Avery Maas and Nora Ellyn Maas of Miami Shores; daughter, Amy Prater, grandchildren; Tyler Parsons, Chelsea Blain, Brandon Hamilton and Toree Prater, great granddaughters; Madyson LaRee Blain and Alayna Ruth Prater of Michigan; siblings, Victor (Marie) Frandsen of Michigan, Jimmy Maas (Michigan), Kenneth (Carol) Maas of Illinois/Michigan, Kevin (Gerri Ann) Maas, Corrine Bean (Wayne Melanson), Michigan/Canada, Denise Maas (Michigan). Rich is remembered dearly by many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends, among those is Shane Smith Tripp, a cousin who Rich walked down the aisle. Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mildred Maas, his father; Edgar Charles Maas; his siblings, Raymond Frandsen, George Frandsen, Dawn Fowler; niece, Dorothy (Dody) Block. Rich was born on August 5, 1954 in Mount Clemens, MI to Edgar & Dorothy Maas. He graduated from Armada High School in 1972, and pursued higher education at FSCJ in 1993 earning his AA. Rich and April were married in October 1977 in Michigan while Rich was on recruiting duty for the US Navy. Rich served 21 years in the US Navy retiring in 1993 as a Senior Chief Operations Specialist, after retirement, Rich worked as a Contract Specialist with Paul Davis Systems, Lab Manager at ITEL Laboratories and an Administrator at M J Wood Company until his illness. He is remembered by his family for his clever wit, genius advice, ability to listen without judgment and for the years he battled Multiple Myeloma, bringing out his true warrior spirit. A Memorial in celebration of Rich's life will be at Hendricks Day School auditorium, 1824 Dean Road, Jacksonville 32216. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Wolfson Children's Hospital (www.foundation.baptistjax.com) in memory of Rich. He was born Nov. 9, 1940 in Haverhill, MA and he was a Veteran of the US Navy. Ralph joined the Navy in 1980 and was honorably discharged in 1984. He returned to Lehigh, followed his dream of becoming a firefighter/paramedic and raised a family. Ralph was preceded in death by his father Joseph Macchia. He leaves behind his daughters, Amber Chancey (Josh) & Alexis Macchia; his mother Anna Macchia; brothers Joseph and Mark (Susan); sister Julianne Anderson (Wes); and nieces Audrianna and Cassandra.Ralph died Oct. 1, 2015. A memorial service will be at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. Inurnment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Wife of Charles Stanley Macconney Sr. MACDONALD, Allen Arthur MacDonald (Abstracted from http://www.seasidefunerals.com/obituaries/Allan-Macdonald-2/#!/Obituary) SFC (RET) Allan Arthur MacDonald born Oct 14th 1923 passed away April 14th 2016. Born in Kearny NJ he lived in Marina, CA for many years. Sgt MacDonald or Old Bill as many of the soldiers at Fort Ord California called him for his participation in their many parades on the Main Parade Field. Also at Fritze Army Airfield. He served with B troop 5th Calvary regimen, 1st Calvary Division at Fort Bliss TX, and Fort Clark TX guarding the border between the USA and Mexico. They patrolled on horseback along the borders against saboteurs and illegal immigrants. They caught a few coming out of the water also the Mexicans dropped their suitcases and boxes as they floated down the river. The Mexicans swam and ran back to the Mexican side. Upon being dismounted in 1943 as WWII was in progress he started training in Australia before going into battle with the Japanese. A short time of training they boarded on a ship and after a long trip across the Pacific landed in Australia. There they once again began more training and moved to New Guinea, then on to the Admiralty Islands and landed with the first wave onto the island. After several months of fighting they once again moved up to invade Leyte Island hitting the beach with the 1st wave. They slowly moved inland then south going through many Pilipino towns till that campaign was over. Then onto Luzon Island P.I. on through many small towns and villages till they reached Manilla. First unit into the Philippine Capital. Then he proceeded onto Tokyo Japan. Once there the commanding general told him he had many points and was over there many months he had to go home as the War had come to a close. After several weeks at home he decided to go back and was once again in Japan and was assigned duties with the 1st Calvary Division at Camp Drake and performed duties as stable Sgt with 37 horses for any enlisted personnel and their wives who wished to ride. After several months he was transferred to GHQ under General Douglas MacArthur as a stable Sgt for Setagaya race track. There once again he had horses for the troops and families to ride.
