We had also provided feedback on the new CyberSecurity bill and raised awareness on the impact of the potential change in property tax for Data Centres.

2. Membership growth SiTF is moving in the direction to refresh our drive in membership and review its charter. Last year, we recruited over 200 new members, bringing our membership numbers up to 650, a huge milestone for the Federation. A bigger representation will give us a bigger voice. Moving forward, we will embrace companies with technology as the core of their business.

3. Community Engagement SiTF embarked on a new initiative, Tech4Community to galvanize the industry to contribute to the community. While we have held a ‘volunteers’ day’ in past, we raised the ante last year and worked to have a nationwide event. This has been an interesting year for the industry. As a result, we brought together about 450 volunteers and Amid the uncertainties worldwide, tech continues to 1200 participants. 8 Annual Report 2016/17 www.sitf.org.sg Executive Director’s Message

This year, we closed the financial year with a deficit of S$179k. This is a result of SiTEX performing below plan due to price pressure from competition and the delay in securing a tenant in the Neil Road office. For SiTEX, we are continuously invigorating the event by enhancing the show with more experiential zones. The changes did not go unnoticed, as the 2016 edition had received extensive media coverage. As for the Neil Road office, we finally managed to rent out the premise. Regardless, we came in better than our planned deficit of $343k.

I am also pleased to announce that Cloud Asia, a leading Cloud conference and exhibition in Asia previously organised by IMDA, was handed over to In the past year, change has been quite the theme SiTF to further drive Cloud adoption and that SiTF for us. We also managed to attract experienced professionals like Saro and Carolyn to work with us. This was possible as we provide flexiwork plan schedules which enables them to come back to work without having to give up their time with their families. They head up both Marketing and Strategic Planning, respectively. These roles are exceptionally important for us in our journey to build a better and stronger SiTF.

As a result, you may notice that SiTF had stepped up in our digital outreach and notably our presence in the media. SiTF is featured almost monthly in different media; councillors, members, and secretariat of SiTF had been sought to provide views and perspectives on a variety of topics ranging from digital economy, ICT Ho Se Mun talents building to the new cybersecurity bill.
