DRINKS VOL. 1 WHITE WINE 175ml 250ml Bottle Le Coq Perdu Vermentino, Pays D’Oc, France 4.5 5.5 16.5 This white wine is made by Le Coq Perdu in Languedoc-Roussillon . Light and fresh, works well with chicken, fish and salads. It is created with mostly Vermentino grapes. At home in the south of France the Vermentino has made it home producing a wine which is full of citrus, peach and apple flavours with a touch of almond blossom. Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection 5 6 18 Bush Vines Chenin Blanc, South Africa Low-yielding old ‘bush vines’ planted on the Knorhoek Farm’s vineyards on the lower slopes of the towering Simonsberg Mountain produce this ripe, tropical-fruit flavoured Chenin Blanc. Some lees ageing and partial malolactic fermentation help to both soften and round the finish. Brilliant with roasted pork, vegetable dishes and creamy sauces. Pontebello Pinot Grigio, Italy 5.5 6.5 19 This white wine is made by Pontebello in Italy. Light and refreshing, a mouth-watering partner for salads and seafood. It is created with mostly Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris grapes. Light, bright and crisp, with delicate apple and pear flavours. Pulpo Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand 5.7 6.7 20 Intense aromas of those classic grassy, gooseberry and tropical fruit flavours that have made ‘Kiwi’ Sauvignon Blanc world-famous. Herbaceous and zesty, perfect with white fish, asparagus, goats’ cheese or dishes with green herbs. Lagar De Indra Albarino, Spain 6.4 7.4 22 Highly intense fruity and flowery aromas with easily found hints of apple, pear, grapefruits and aromatic herbs. Easy to drink, fresh, balanced and persistent with fruity shades. Great wine with strong personality. Drifting Chardonnay, Lodi County, USA 6.7 7.7 23 The Chardonnay grapes for this generously flavoured white, are grown in vineyards planted on the rich, sandy loam soils of Lodi, located at the top of California’s Central Valley region. Here the vines are bathed in warm sunshine for much of the growing season and the grapes reach full ripeness easily. After harvesting and fermentation the wine is French-oak aged for about three months. Tropical fruit and green apple show on the nose, backed by toasted oak spice, the palate finishes with notes of zesty lemon. Just perfect with chicken, pork, pastry with rich buttery and creamy sauces. Formed from primarily Chardonnay grapes, this wine is vegetarian. Dr. Loosen Riesling, Germany 27 This wine is a fruit-driven Riesling that combines extraordinary concentration and length with a bracing minerality. Medium-sweet, the wine shows notes of both dark fruits, like blackcurrant, alongside grapefruit and lime. A wine that pairs well with sweetish, savoury, Asian-inspired dishes, this wine is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Domaine Thomas Le Pierrier Sancerre, France 30 Subtle hints of gooseberry and citrus are the hallmarks of this classic Loire Sauvignon. The palate is flinty and crisp with an elegantly long length. Pale straw in colour; fresh Sauvignon Blanc aromas that suggest perfectly ripe fruit harvested at its apogee of flavour and potency with suggestion of ripe melon, citrus, fine floral and honey on a backdrop of cool rainwater on crumbled limestone; crisp and compelling on the palate, with an almost palpable vibrant interplay of fruit and acidity; lots and lots of clean, delicious Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc flavour that just lasts and lasts and refreshes and refreshes. A great all-rounder, as good with Mediterranean dishes as with spicy food or a Sunday roast, this wine is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Arido Malbec, Argentina 5.5 6.5 19 Made from 100% Malbec grapes that are harvested by hand from vineyards planted on well-drained, sandy-loam soils. Here at altitude the nights are very cold and the ripening season long. Medium ruby-red, the nose shows red fruits and notes of dried fig: the palate is fruit led and fresh. Nederburg The Manor Shiraz, South Africa 5.7 6.7 20 Vineyards in the Paarl, Durbanville, Philadelphia and Stellenbosch regions provide fruit for this 100% Shiraz. The wine is matured in new-, second- and third-fill oak for a period of 12 to 18 months. An abundance of prune, plum and cherry with pencil shaving and oak spice aromas is met on the palate by flavours of ripe plum, cherry and dark chocolate. Adds spice and juicy fruit, to full-flavoured beef, lamb or game dishes, this wine is ethically produced and vegetarian. Poggio Cheto Chianti Classico, Italy 23 The Chianti Classico region is situated directly between Florence and Sienna. Here in 1716, Grand Duke Cosimo III of Tuscany identified the region as being the best for growing grapes to make Chianti. Dark brilliant ruby. A wonderfully refined nose is full of ripe plum and cherry aromas, filled out by tantalizing spicy notes. The fruit is lush and forward on the palate with sweet toasty oak flavours blended with bitter chocolate and ripe raspberry. Rich and intense flavours that are perfect for full-flavoured beef and pasta dishes. Formed from primarily Sangiovese grapes, this wine is ethically produced, vegan and vegetarian friendly. Marques de Morano Rioja Crianza, Spain 7.3 8.3 24 Made from Tempranillo and Mazuelo grapes which are matured for at least a year in cask followed by at least a year in bottle to give that classic smooth oaky taste. great allrounder, as good with Mediterranean dishes as with spicy food or a Sunday roast. Formed from primarily Tempranillo grapes, this wine is vegetarian and vegan friendly. LFE Gran Riserva Pinot Noir, Chile 25 A bright ruby-red coloured wine bursting with dark plum, red cherry and exotic black tea aromas. The palate shows generous fruit flavours, yet is elegantly balanced, the fruit complemented with a smoky-oak character, gained from a period of ageing in oak barrels. Perdigal Chateuaneuf du Pape, France 36 From one of our favourite Rhone producers this is rich and heady with intense flavours of red plums and bramble followed by notes of pepper, thyme and liquorice on the long, silky smooth finish. ROSÉ WINES 175ml 250ml Bottle Wicked Lady White Zinfandel, USA 4.5 8.4 16.5 Medium-sweet rosé made using Zinfandel grapes from warm Californian vineyards. The juice from the crushed grapes spends a short time in contact with the skins which gives the wine a salmon-pink colour. Shows red-fruits on the rich, juicy palate. Sweet, soft and light rosé, can work well with savoury foods that have a sweet dimension. Villa d’Elsa Pinot Grigio Blush, Italy 5.7 6.7 20 Dry rose full of summer berries and citrus fruits – very refreshing and easy drinking. ‘Blush’ Pink Colour And Delicate Wild-Strawberry Flavours, Balanced By A Crisp Citrus Finish. Mirabeau Pure Provence Rosé, France 26 Fashioned from grapes grown in some of the highest vineyards in the Côtes de Provence. Grenache is blended with the punchier Syrah with its ripe cherry and raspberry flavours, a smattering of Vermentino provides delicacy and a hint of white pepper. Provençal, herbaceous ‘garrigue’ flavours meld well with hints of grapefruit, cherry and orange blossom on a palate which finishes on a refreshing minerally note. Deliciously versatile rosé, ideal with salads, seafood, grilled chicken or pasta, this wine is ethically produced and vegetarian. 125ml Bottle SPARKLING WINES & CHAMPAGNE Pontebello Prosecco, Italy 4 16.5 Elegant and crisp with a fine bubble mousse and delicious apricot, pear and citrus flavours. This sparkling white wine is made by Pontebello in Veneto. Whilst famed as an apéritif, the soft fizz of Prosecco also partners light chicken dishes, delicate seafood and salads well. It is created with mosty Glera grapes. Bottega Rose Gold, Italy 30 Pinot Noir grapes from Oltrepò Pavese are hand-picked to make this peach-coloured rosé. The skins stay in contact with the must for 24 hours prior to a gentle pressing to separate them, this creates the delicate colour and helps to provide the wine with notes of mixed red berries to go alongside floral and white fruit aromas. Versatile rosé, ideal with salads, seafood, grilled chicken or pasta. Formed from primarily Pinot Noir grapes, this wine is ethically produced, vegan and vegetarian friendly. Veuve Cliquot, France 65 Well known for both its full-bodied, biscuit style and its consistency. A black grape dominated blend, using 50% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier together with 30% Chardonnay. A blend of over 50 crus, mostly Premier and Grand Cru, with over 25% reserve wines. Excellent partner for light dishes based on white fish or chicken, green vegetables, salads and savoury cheese dishes. Formed from primarily Pinot Noir grapes, this wine is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Ruinart Blanc de Blanc, France 100 Luminous pale gold with fine, light long-lasting bubbles. Elegant, reflecting fresh citrus fruits, white flowers and peach on the nose, evolves in the mouth, fluctuating between freshness, suppleness and fullness. Chardonnay dominated Champagnes, with finesse and minerality, enhance elegant seafood, chicken and pork dishes.
