The University Grants Commission is thriving hard for making higher education accessible to all. Though there is increase in number of colleges even in remote areas, the higher education remains inaccessible to many because of reasons, such as social, finance and personal. In order to provide higher education to individuals who are not in the mainstream of education. The external mode is one of the effective measures. With the availability of internet and web-based learning facilities, the External Education has acquired a new dimension. In fact, the quality of education could be as good as main stream educational system. As a result, External Education is being successfully implemented all over the world. Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University has taken a step in this direction and is successfully implementing the program. The University is taking all efforts to provide the necessary guidance to the learners through various centers established at the colleges affiliated to the University. The University is also planning to make available the necessary educational material and also changing the syllabi and pattern of examination to suit the learners. This will certainly provide an opportunity to the students enrolled for upgrading their knowledge and bring themselves at par with regular students. I extend my hearty welcome to the students joining the External mode and assure them that they will get the necessary help and guidance to enrich their learning experience. I wish you all the best in your educational endeavor. Dr. Udhav V. Bhosle Vice-Chancellor S.R.T.M. University, Nanded. From the Director’s Desk:- It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all the viewers to this webpage. The SRTM University, Nanded has already taken an initiative to open the Distance Education (External Mode) for the educationally deprived people, the unreached students in this region and those working in the various sectors. In India external education opportunities at the university level have increased enormously. Most of the conventional universities have been running Distance Education Programmes on their campuses. Recently, there has been a tremendous awareness throughout the country about the significance of higher education but the conventional system seems not able to accommodate the increasing demand of the students. Therefore, the spread of higher education through distance mode is getting world recognition and acceptance. The DDE of this university through its fifty nine study centres is striving hard to impart quality education. Presently the number of students enrolled in these centres is around four thousand. The DDE has the potential for fulfilling the desire and dreams of all the stakeholders. I wish the learners all success ! Dr. C. R. Baviskar I/C, Director Directorate of Distance Education. S.R.T.M.
