Waverley Federation Special Options Booklet 2019- 2021 Working Together to Raise Achievement Dear Student, Waverley Federation This prospectus gives information about the courses offered by the Waverley Federation as part of your options choice. All of these courses take place on Tuesdays throughout years 10 and 11. It also explains the application procedures and expectations to which you would need to agree should you be successful in your application. A good education is the key to better life chances, equipping you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to succeed in further learning, work, and opening the door to greater prosperity and wider opportunities. As a federation we are working collaboratively with our partner schools and colleges to give you a greater breadth and choice of subjects to study in order that you can design a personalised curriculum which motivates, interests and challenges you. These Special Options are equivalent to GCSE but are taught and assessed in a different way and enable you to study in a more adult environment at a college or specialist training centre. You should take time to consider what options will best suit you, listening to advice from your teachers and researching the possibilities carefully. The number of places available on each course is limited and the application and interview processes are competitive. If you do decide to apply you must ensure that you have also agreed an alternative school-based option should your application for a Waverley course be unsuccessful. Yours faithfully, -

PROSPECTUS 2018/2019 1 Dear Parent/Carer, Thank you for taking the time to read this prospectus. Broadwater is a school with a unique ethos. We care about our students and know their hopes, dreams and aspirations. We are a school in the community for the community. Our motto ‘By increments conquer’ helps students realise that life is full of hurdles but with support, guidance and little bit of grit we can overcome these to achieve our ambitions. We look to ensure that our students are developing the skills for learning as well as developing their ability to take on new challenges, and of course those all important examinations. Our work as a lead school nationally and internationally, in Philosophy for Children, helps to develop students’ higher order thinking and questioning skills. We believe that these are the skills for life that our students need to not only succeed in school, but in their futures. Preparing students for their next stage is of the upmost importance to us. We strongly believe in collaborating with other schools to ensure that our students have the best educational offer possible. For many years Broadwater has been part of the Waverley Federation, and this year we enter into an exciting new partnership with Charterhouse School. Annual Report 2018-19
Annual Report 2018-19 This report is published by Godalming Town Council for the Annual Town Meeting 18 April 2019. MAYORAL REVIEW I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow Councillors for giving me the opportunity to serve Godalming as Mayor 2018/19. It has been a great privilege and honour and Jeanne and I have enjoyed meeting so many people in our community over the last year. Many events stand out over the year, but first of all I wish to thank the Town Clerk and the Council’s Staff for all their help, encouragement and advice given to us and I think that I have, in the main, followed their advice. The year started off with the Town Show and procession to The Burys; this year it was in a ‘Castle’ much too some people’s amusement and one grand-daughter’s delight in riding and waving as the carnival moved through Godalming before enjoying the stalls and events on The Burys. This year was again a great success especially with the schools’ and children’s clubs and activity groups. My Civic Service at Ladywell Convent was especially meaningful and many guests were kind with their remarks and I would like to thank the Sisters for their hospitality on this special day. During the annual Staycation I think we managed to get around most of the events; I even found myself doing tai chi, which was an experience. We enjoyed the canoeing, but I was warned that if I fell in the chains must be saved first.
