Kasich Lindsey Graham Mike Huckabee Marco Rubio Elizabeth Gray Rick Santorum Donald J. Trump Uncommitted Chris Christie Jeb Bush Railroad Commissioner President: Let’s bring Texas-style constitutional conservatism to the rest of the Union. Doug Jeffrey Lance N. Christian Railroad Commissioner: In the Texas House, Wayne Christian had one of the most Wayne Christian conservative voting records. Having served as vice-chair of the House committee Gary Gates which oversees the Railroad Commission, he is the most qualified candidate in this race. All other candidates have never held elected office. His main challenger, Gary John Greytok Gates, is a wealthy perennial candidate with no relevant experience. Weston Martinez Ron Hale Justice, Supreme Court, Place 3: Michael Massengale is a constitutionalist in the mold of his friend, Ted Cruz, with more appellate experience than incumbent Debra Justice, Supreme Court, Place 3 Lehrmann, who regularly votes against the conservative opinions of the Court. Michael Massengale Debra Lehrmann Justice, Supreme Court, Place 5: Paul Green is a respected, proven, conservative jurist with 21 years of appellate experience. Rick Green is a great conservative Justice, Supreme Court, Place 5 activist, with no judicial experience. The Supreme Court needs experienced appel- late judges capable of thoughtfully resolving the large amount of cases the Court Paul Green addresses. Rick Green Justice, Supreme Court, Place 9: Eva Guzman is a respected, proven conservative Justice, Supreme Court, Place 9 jurist with 14 years of appellate experience. Joe Pool is a perennial candidate with Joe Pool no judicial experience who last ran against conservative Jeff Brown with financial Eva Guzman support of Democrat trial lawyers. Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 2 Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 2: The CCA only hears criminal cases. Mary Lou Keel is a staunch conservative who has served for 21 years as a felony trial Mary Lou Keel court judge. Prior to becoming a judge, she represented the state on the appeal of Ray Wheless 279 cases. She is the only candidate with significant death penalty experience, which Chris Oldner is critical for a judge on the CCA. Her opponents have respectively 7 and 13 years of judicial experience in courts of general jurisdiction which are not dedicated to crimi- Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 5 nal cases. Neither has significant death penalty or criminal appeals experience. Scott Walker Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 5: Sid Harle is one of the most respect- Sid Harle ed conservative judges in Texas, known for his fairness and vast experience. The Brent Webster other candidates are simply unqualified to serve on the state’s criminal court of last Steve Smith resort. Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 6 Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 6: Michael Keasler is a respected, conser- vative jurist with 17 years of appellate experience. He authored the opinion in the Richard Davis Medellin v. Texas case, which Ted Cruz then argued before the Supreme Court and Michael E. Keasler won. This case ruled that our state’s law cannot be overruled by the World Court’s international law opinion. Richard Davis is a former prosecutor and perennial candi- date with no judicial experience. • THE TIPRO TARGET March 5, 2020
VOLUME 22, NO. 5 THE TIPRO TARGET March 5, 2020 Texas TEXAS’ 2020 PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS IN Independent UNEXPECTED DEFEAT FOR RAILROAD COMMISSION INCUMBENT Producers and Royalty Owners Super Tuesday brought unexpected victories for some candidates in Texas, and big upsets for others. Association Political newcomer James “Jim” Wright defeated office incumbent Ryan Sitton for the Republican nomination to become Texas’ next Railroad Commissioner. Securing only 44 percent of the vote compared to Wright's 56 percent, late Tuesday Sitton conceded the race to Wright. “As I watched the primary results come in, I was shocked,” Sitton said in a message sent out to his supporters Wednesday. “I have to admit, I didn’t see it coming, and I am very disappointed,” he continued. “I have truly enjoyed serving you as your Texas Railroad Commissioner, and I was excited about the future. But this is how our election process works, and now someone else will be stepping in to represent the people of this state.” Before being elected in 2014 to the commission, Sitton and his wife Jennifer founded Pinnacle Advanced Reliability Technologies in 2006, an engineering and technology company focused on reliability and integrity programs for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Sitton now says he intends to return to the leadership team at Pinnacle once he completes his term at the end of the year at the Railroad Commission. In a post shared through social media platform Twitter, Wright said his win showed “Texans believe in integrity, leadership and innovation.” He added, “I look forward to bringing our message to all Texans and working with Wayne Christian and Christi Craddick in January 2021 to keep our state the top leader in natural resource production in the country.” Wright has campaigned on a platform of open communication between state regulators and stakeholders.

  • Political Ad. Paid for by Wayne Christian for Texas
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 9, 2013 Contact: Luke Macias (210) 259-5053 ChristianForTexas.com CHRISTIAN ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR TEXAS RAILROAD COMMISSIONER Today former State Representative Wayne Christian announced his campaign for the Republican nomination for Railroad Commissioner. Christian was recognized during his time in the Texas House as a conservative champion, spending three years as President of the Texas Conservative Coalition. Christian was also consistently ranked as a top conservative from groups like Young Conservatives of Texas, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, and Texas Eagle Forum. “Over the past few years the Federal Government has waged a war on oil and gas development,” said Christian. “Nowhere is that more apparent than in Texas. We’re blessed as a state with immense resources, and are fortunate to maintain a good business climate thanks to low taxation and appropriate regulation. If the Obama Administration has their way, however, Texas energy development will be suffocated by a wave of new regulations and bureaucratic red tape.” A citizen of deep East Texas, Christian has seen first-hand the tremendous economic benefits that oil and natural gas development can provide to once poor communities. “The benefits of Texas’ energy boom are far-reaching,” commented Christian. “Good paying jobs in oil and gas are putting food on the table for thousands of families, and are creating the need for more construction and infrastructure employment. Increased energy revenue means our schools can benefit from new learning materials, high-speed internet, and much needed repairs and renovations.” “I have fought the EPA from Al Gore to Obama, and bring true experience to the table as a former Vice Chairman of the Regulated Industries and a two-time member of the Energy Committee.

We also greatly appreciate the leadership and flexibility that the Supreme Court of Texas and the BLE have shown to date in undertaking significant and unprecedented measures during this crisis, all towards the goal of ensuring that a bar exam can go forward and that applicants have a safe and successful experience: modifying the supervised practice rules, offering a second Texas Bar Exam in September, increasing flexibility for bar takers to switch their exam without additional expense, implementing various Covid-19 health and safety protocols, and reducing the bar exam from three days to two. In recent days, however, the arc of the coronavirus has changed, and these measures no longer seem sufficient.
