WELCOME TO THE MATCH BARRY HUNTER - CLUB CHAIRMAN Woodside Road, Worthing, BN14 7HQ Worthing FC club honours Welcome to our first scheduled home fixture of the 2020/21 01903 233 444 | [email protected] Isthmian League Div 1 Champions 82–83 campaign. I say campaign because that’s the feeling you sense all Isthmian League Div 1 Runners Up 94–95 around the club, on and off the pitch. CLUB OFFICIALS Isthmian League Div 1S Runners Up 03–04 George Dowell Owner Isthmian League Div 1S Play-off Winners 15–16 I would say that the general expectations around the club going into Barry Hunter Chairman Isthmian League Div 2 Champions 81–82, 92–93 last season was optimism. It was something I certainly sensed when I Dave Dowell Operations Director Sussex County League Champions 20–21, 21–22, 26–27, John Whyte Finance Director 28–29, 30–31, 33–34, 38–39, 39–40 became chairman in September. We knew the squads potential and to Vas Vassiliou Club Secretary make a play-off spot would have been considered real progress given Mark Armitage Head of Commercial Development Sussex Senior Challenge Cup the previous seasons top half finish. But Hinsh and his squad ignored Nathan Bowen Director of Football Winners 1892-93, 1903–04, 07–08, 13–14, 19–20, 22–23, 26–27, Stuart Evans Commercial Manager 28–29, 34–35, 39–40, 44–45, 45–46, 46–47, 51–52, 56–57, the history. THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS I write these notes after a very disappointing defeat away at Leatherhead where we came up against a team with a different game plan than what we have encountered before and which took a while to adjust to play to get a result. We fortunately found ourselves ahead in the game with 15 minutes to go which we have seen before already this season, again we were unable to see the game out. On both occasions some of which has been down to tactics, a lot down to endeavour and a commitment to keep the ball out of our net. When in a winning position with so few minutes on the clock we should have an added incentive to get the win but this simply has not been the case. We need to add this bit of steel into our squad if we are to achieve anything this season, this kind of naivety needs addressing for a club of our stature. Some injury news, Jesse Starkey hamstring injury should be back for Margate away next Saturday. Alfie Young should be training within 2 weeks. Darren Budd is still feeling the back of his ankle after rolling it in training and Danny Barker should be available today. Aaran Racine and Alex Parsons were both unavailable midweek due to work commitments but we hope to have them available as often as possible this season. Thanks for your support throughout the lockdown period with the crowd funder and then following the team in this difficult period whilst playing away from home. The ground improvements are really starting to take shape and we can’t wait to welcome you all back to Woodside when safe to do so. Up the Mackerels. THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS After missing the last two games due to injury, Roco Rees returned in goal in the only change to the Kingstonian eleven with Ricky Aguiar back on the bench at the expense of Mo Diallo. It was the visitors who almost struck first when a dangerous-looking low cross from Leon Moore on the right only missed a decisive touch from Dajon Golding by a toenail. Some neat approach play then saw Reece Myles- Meekums backheel the ball to Jasper Pattenden who exchanged passes with Ollie Pearce before curling narrowly wide of the far top corner. A raking pass from left to right from Danny Barker allowed Myles-Meekums to spot Golding, only for his A fine, searching ball from Myles-Meekums on the left goalbound attempt to be headed off the line by Leon picked out Pattenden on the right and his first-time Redwood.
