WEEKEND The first ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL took place June 1-3, 2012 with over 1 700 attendees gathering in Austin, TX to watch television on the big screen, relive favorite series, discover new ones, get inspired, and discuss what’s to come in the OVER the most influential pop culture medium. 25TV WHAT EXACTLY IS ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL? It’s an outlet for television geeks to come together with the creators and casts of 700 their favorite series to experience the TV medium in a way that’s never been done SHOWS TV GEEKS before. We call it TV Camp for grown-ups.

Festivals create , and so does television. Whether a series lasts 10 episodes or 10 years, it establishes a long-standing and loyal following. At ATX, we are celebrating television, creating opportunities for fans and industry alike to experience their favorite series (or discover a new one) within the community they create; and ultimately taking the “water cooler” conversation public. With screenings, panels, parties, premieres, and more TV than you can imagine, ATX has become a must-do on every TV-lover’s list. ATTENDEES Over 75 of TV’s elite came to Austin for the first annual ATX Television Festival; they included network executives, creators, writers, and cast & crew including music supervisors, musicians & editors.

OPENING NIGHT kicked off with a packed red carpet, screenings of the Season 4 premiere of USA Networks’ Royal Pains and Suits, and an exclusive Q&A with cast and producers. The after party moved next door to Stephen F’s lounge where ATX official sponsor Tito’s Vodka served Texas Sippers specialty cocktails, and guests danced to live music by Landon Pigg & , as well as the Austin- based band Alpha Rev.

HASBRO STUDIOS AND THE HUB PRESENT SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS captured the hearts of a room full of 300 pajama- clad kids (big and small) during this free family friendly event. ATX sponsor Batter Blaster served up pancakes, while My Little Pony, Transformers, and the world premiere of Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters played following a special introduction from Scott Wolf (Party of Five, the voice of Kaijudo). To complete the fun, families had the opportunity to dress up in our photo booth and spin the Hub giveaway wheel with special cartoon themed prizes!

THE INDUSTRY RECEPTION gave our panelists some time to interact with each other and catch up with old friends at Austin Studios. With sponsors Tito’s Vodka, Treaty Oak Rum, and the Bacon Bus food truck, our friends from LA and had the perfect place to get to know Austin’s very own TV industry leaders and to learn how they, too, can film in Texas.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS COMMUNITY OUTDOOR SCREENING brought out the cast and executive producer of Austin’s most beloved show. Armed with lawn chairs, picnic baskets and coolers, over 500 new and old fans of the show came together at Hotel San Jose to listen to live music by cast members and watch the show’s finale, while the crowd cheered in unison, “Clear eyes, full hearts, CAN’T LOSE!” “IT’S EVERYTHING I COULD WISH FOR; I’M REALLY HAPPY TO BE DOING THIS.” - JULIE PLEC 2012 SPONSORS

WHO ARE WE

Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson have been in the film and television industries for over a decade. Caitlin focused her time and energy working on the production side for directors Betty Thomas, Nora Ephron, and Mira Nair. She has worked on a number of pilots, series, and feature films. In addition, she has been involved on the festival and filmmaker sides of renowned festivals like Sundance, Tribeca, and Doha Tribeca. Her love of the industry and festivals have led her to create a similar experience for a medium with even more pop culture influence and an untapped potential for community-building. Emily Gipson has spent her years in the industry working on the studio and network side for Fox, TLC, Discovery, and Fox TV Studios. She has seen the ins and outs of the business side of the entertainment industry, and ATX Television Festival was the perfect place to apply her extensive experience and knowledge. And her passion for music makes her a perfect fit to develop a festival in Austin, the live music capital of the world.
