The Cordillera Administrative Region or CAR is composed of the provinces of , , , , and the . The Region is bounded by the Cagayan and Isabela provinces on the north and east, respectively, Pangasinan and Nueva Vizcaya on the south, and the Ilocos provinces and La Union on the west. This makes it the only land-locked region in the country. CAR has a total land area of 1, 961, 110 ha, in which 177, 839 ha are agricultural. It has rugged mountain ranges, forests, deep gorges and ravines, wide pasturelands and river basins.
