How to read the Bible? A Simple Method S O A P Scripture Observation Application Prayer.

Scripture Take today’s bible reading, pray over it and then read through slowly. Write down a verse or two that stuck out to you.

Observation What is God showing us in this text? What questions do we have? Jot down words or phrases that stand out. Is there something God wants us to learn? Are we seeing principles, prompts, or promises?

Application Now it’s time to get personal. How does this affect my life? Does God have instructions for me today? Is there encouragement, correction, an invitation or a challenge? Write down in my journal what feels personal to me?

Prayer Spend time in a two-way conversation with God. A healthy pattern for prayer is Adoration (appreciating the attributes of God), Confession (vulnerability and authenticity) Thanksgiving (gratitude to God) Supplication (asking for God to move in certain areas of life).
