The Dust Has Settled, RTM Vindicated
Headline The dust has settled, RTM vindicated Language English Media Title New Straits Times Section/Page No Nation Date 23rd February 2019 Journalist Bernama Source https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2019/02/4 Remarks Broadcasting, Broadcasting Regulation 62929/dust-has-settled-rtm-vindicated The dust has settled, RTM vindicated By Bernama - February 23, 2019 KUALA LUMPUR: The dust has now settled with Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo clearing RTM of any fault after the broadcaster was taken to task for failing to broadcast live the delivery of speeches of certain leaders at the national-level Chinese New Year open house in Seremban on Sunday. The episode began unravelling after Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s press secretary Lim Swee Kuan ranted on Facebook asking whether RTM was sabotaging the government and remarked that “heads must roll in RTM”. Lim also said that an official letter would be sent to Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo on the matter. This came after RTM did not broadcast live the speeches by Loke and Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun at the event, except for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s speech. Also present at the event was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Gobind took up the matter immediately and requested RTM to submit a report and list down its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in handling requests for the station to cover an event. On Thursday, after gleaning through the report, Gobind cleared RTM of any fault after finding that the broadcaster had adhered to the SOP by broadcasting only the delivery of speeches by the prime minister in any event also attended by ministers and menteris besar. -

Big Crowd Boosts Hope for Pakatan Takeover in NS Malaysiakini.Com April 24, 2013 by Ahmad Fadli KC
Big crowd boosts hope for Pakatan takeover in NS MalaysiaKini.com April 24, 2013 By Ahmad Fadli KC Negeri Sembilan DAP chief Anthony Loke says the sheer size of the crowd at the “monster” DAP ceramah in Seremban last Monday is proof not only of Pakatan Raakyat being able to retain Seremban and Rasah, but that it can win over the state on May 5. A crowd of more than 10,000 people braved the light rain that fell during the ceramah held in front of the Seremban market that night. Those gathered had filled up the ceramah site and the crowd spilled out onto the five-foot walkways. “This is a sign of change that is to come in Negri Sembilan. Tonight is a historic night because this is the first time in the last 20 to 30 years that we have had such a monster ceramah in front of the Seremban market,” Loke (right), who is also the Seremban candidate, said at the ceramah. While this could signify that Seremban and Rasah parliamentary constituencies are largely Pakatan Rakyat strongholds, the coalition cannot slacken in its campaign, for the BN appears to be catching up. Observations by Malaysiakini on the third day of the campaign indicated that the Negri Sembilan BN had shifted into higher gear, with an abundance of coalition and campaign banners along the roads from the highway toll plaza to the Seremban city centre. Before this, Pakatan banners and posters were mostly the only campaign materials seen at the main corners of Seremban town. This is perhaps an indication of hostility towards BN’s pick of Negri Sembilan MCA chairperson Dr Yeow Chai Tiam as candidate for Seremban thawing, as well as more concerted efforts to challenge Pakatan’s hold there. -

PKR Challenges Gov't to Drop Apco Malaysiakini.Com Mar 22, 2010 S Pathmawathy
PKR challenges gov't to drop Apco Malaysiakini.com Mar 22, 2010 S Pathmawathy PKR MPs today urged the government to terminate the agreement between Malaysia and consultancy firm Apco Worldwide, to avoid a negative perception by other Islamic nations. The lawmakers claim that though Apco had disclaimed any connection with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's 1Malaysia campaign, they insist that the company has strong ties with Israel and its former premier Ehud Barak. "If the government does not revoke Apco's contract, we will be exposed to danger. People will link us to Israeli policy and speculate that we are in cahoots," said Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusoff. "I also challenge government to take action against those responsible for bringing in these elements that have damaged the country's image." Yusmadi said this at a press conference that was also attended by other MPs including R Sivarasa (Subang), Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani) and Amran Abu Ghani (Tanah Merah). The Apco debacle began last week when Anwar Ibrahim claimed during his debate on the royal address that the company was linked to the Zionist 'One Israel' campaign. Following this, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz moved a suggestion through deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee this morning to give opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim a week to back up his claim, since he was not in the house to respond. Failing which, Mohd Nazri said a motion would be moved to refer Anwar to the Rights and Privileges Committee committee to cite him for contempt and misleading the house.
