A Night in Berlin [email protected] WGA-West INT METRO-MIDDAY FADE IN Two young students sit in a metro. They stare solemnly ahead. DEAN and ROB both 19, Dean is shorter and has long jet black hair, while Rob is taller and is built like a marine. They have two heavy packs, look unkempt and grimy with tired eyes. Soft music plays as they stare at their reflections in the metro window. DEAN Hey, next stop man. ROB OK EXT. METRO-MIDDAY-KREUZBERG From above Rob and Dean lean against the escalator as it takes them out of the metro. They reach the top and stop immediately. DEAN Where the fuck are we, ROB? ROB Berlin dumbass. DEAN This looks like little Afghanistan to me. AERIAL VIEW The area looks as if they had just stepped into the Middle East. Donor Kabobs line the streets and women with headscarves walk around casually. Men sit outside drinking tea and smoking Sheesha. DEAN You sure this is where our hostel is? Didn’t it say good nightlife online? (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 2. ROB Yea, it did, so just help me find the hostel OK? DEAN Alright, I’m not complaining. ROB Good. They continue to walk in silence for a little while. Rob a few steps ahead as Dean struggles to keep up. DEAN I’m not complaining but this place looks like it sucks. ROB Huh. DEAN What kind of fucking nightlife would locate here? Muslims must know how to party. Rob ignores Dean and is obviously flustered as he looks down at the map.

  • In Re Lit Hookah LLC _____
This Opinion is Not a Precedent of the TTAB Mailed: March 24, 2020 UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE _____ Trademark Trial and Appeal Board _____ In re Lit Hookah LLC _____ Serial No. 87904592 _____ Sevag Demirjian of Demirjian Law Offices, for Lit Hookah LLC. Leslee A. Friedman, Trademark Examining Attorney, Law Office 120, David Miller, Managing Attorney. _____ Before Ritchie, Larkin, and Coggins, Administrative Trademark Judges. Opinion by Larkin, Administrative Trademark Judge: Lit Hookah LLC (“Applicant”) seeks registration on the Principal Register of the mark shown below Serial No. 87904592 for “glass hookahs, including whole hookahs and hookah parts such as the bowl, down-stem and hoses to be utilized to smoke tobacco and other herbal products without electronic components,”1 in International Class 34.2 The Examining Attorney refused registration of Applicant’s mark under Section 2(d) of the Trademark Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1052(d), on the ground that it so resembles the registered standard character mark LIT HOOKAH LOUNGE & BAR for “hookah lounge services,” in International Class 41,3 as to be likely, when used in connection with the goods identified in the application, to cause confusion, to cause mistake, or to deceive. Applicant appealed when the Examining Attorney made the refusal final. Applicant and the Examining Attorney have filed briefs.4 We affirm the refusal to register. 1 A “hookah” is “a pipe for smoking tobacco or drugs that has a long tube and pulls the smoke through a small container of water.” MACMILLAN DICTIONARY (macmillandictionary.com, last accessed on March 24, 2020).

Hookah Lounge Bar Business Plan Karganova, Valeria 2018 Laurea 2 Laurea University of Applied Sciences Hookah lounge bar business plan Valeria Karganova Restaurant Entrepreneurship Bachelor’s Thesis February, 2018 3 Laurea University of Applied Sciences Abstract Degree Programme in Restaurant Entrepreneurship Bachelor’s Thesis Name: Valeria Karganova Hookah lounge bar business plan Year 2018 Pages 62 Calpe is a wonderful touristic town in the county of Alicante in Spain. With every time it re- ceives more and more people from all over Europe, especially from Holland, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Russia. Therefore, the appearance of high-class places, able to satisfy needs of all the customers, with good service is essential. Calpe is located on the Costa Blanca on the Mediterranean Sea and tourists demand for the unforgettable memories on their vacation. From this observation has been produced the idea of writing a business plan and opening a hookah lounge bar in Calpe. The main aim of this thesis is to build a business plan for the future lounge bar of the author and one more new-coming entrepreneur from London along with the purpose of creating a lounge place, where people are able to get relaxed, enjoy hookah and drinks, made based on the clients’ preferences, wonderful views and music. The purpose is to strengthen touristic market in Calpe and improve its leisure. The lounge bar is named „Hookah Space“ and will be legally operating after finding an angel investor or taking a bank loan and afterwards company registration. The concept of the lounge bar is focusing on a combination of high-quality leisure place, which will have a high and friendly service providing big selection of cocktails, quality-made hookahs and unique chill-out and lounge music, which will make people feel comfortable and come back repeatedly.

  • Any Night of the Week at Either of the Two Paymon's Mediterranean Cafés, O
Any night of the week at either of the two Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafés, the hookah lounges are full of men and women, college students, couples on dates and other people of all ethnicities. They may be relaxing after a long work day, preparing for a night out on the town or simply hanging out with friends. Beer, wine and cocktails are served. Exotic dishes such as hummus and falafel—and of course, Athen’s fries—are on the tables. Also present are works of art: cut-glass water jars topped by bowls from which emanate delicious scents including mint, chocolate and fruit. It’s all part of the hookah experience, and the same scene is played out in Las Vegas’ other hookah lounges: Azuza Hookah & Fine Teas, Town Square’s Nu Sanctuary Lounge, Maharaja Hookah Café in the Fremont East Entertainment District, Almaza Hookah Lounge Restaurant and countless others. Together, they offer a welcome break from the everyday stresses of life, as well as employing dozens of people and injecting much needed money into our local economy. Hookahs have a long, rich history, dating back to 16th century Persia, as a social activity. Both then and continuing centuries later to today, people gather in cafes and coffee houses throughout the Arab world, socializing and relaxing, just as they do in Las Vegas. What was introduced to the United States as an exotic tradition can now be seen as a cultural bridge, bringing people from around the world together as well as enriching our local culture. Now, however, the government has decided that this successful experiment in multiculturalism must come to an end, and come to an end for reasons that don’t make any logical sense.

It is an attempt to identify Hookah Coffeehouse, a coffeehouse which is located near Cleveland State Campus in Ohio, as a third place that become part of the Cleveland State University international students cultural landscape and to shed light on its role in fostering social life among them. Hookah as an illustrative case, this report presents and analyzes the social, spatial, and cultural aspects that create a third place for international students at Cleveland State University. The paper shows how these social aspects change private space to become public place. The conclusions point to the dynamic and the elastic nature of social places as expressed in specific cultural contexts of the international students who are studying and living in Cleveland.
