Join New York City Ballet Principal Dancer and Host Maria Kowroski as we turn the Coleman, Bach & Brahms page through some of the most beloved ballets in NYCB’s history and Thursday, August 12 at 8:00pm explore how stories and characters are depicted through the extraordinary world of dance. You’ll enjoy excerpts from across the company’s Yannick Nézet-Séguin, conductor repertory, including Fancy Free, Firebird, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sleeping David Kim and Juliette Kang, violin Beauty and Swan Lake, and hear insights directly from the artists in this engaging presentation for all ages. Short Stories will feature an ensemble Coleman Seven O’Clock Shout of fifteen New York City Ballet dancers in costume performing excerpts Bach Double Concerto in D minor from the Company’s world-renowned repertory, with live musical Brahms Symphony No. 1 in C minor accompaniment provided by pianists from NYCB. While Mr. Balanchine may best be known for his iconic ballet The Nutcracker, he Joshua Bell Returns! choreographed more than 400 pieces in his lifetime. From the minimalist Saturday, August 14 at 8:00pm and neoclassical Agon to the romantic and jazzy Who Cares?, you’ll see excerpts from some of his greatest masterpieces, including The Four Yannick Nézet-Séguin, conductor Temperaments, Apollo, Jewels, Agon and Who Cares? and learn about Joshua Bell, violin the dance legacy he created for generations to enjoy.
