  • Jolly Llb – a Review
JOLLY LLB – A REVIEW Written by ANIRUDHA Saturday, 16 March 2013 03:22 The trailer and the punch lines were a lure enough to catch the movie. Also the star cast of Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani known for their comic timing were a good reason to go to the theater to have a good time. It could be defined as a sharply made spoof that really does not switch into a preachy mode. The reality of judiciary system in our country is not hidden from any one, but the presentation and performance is what makes the movie a worthy watch. Talking about the story, young lawyer Jagdish Tyagi aka Jolly played by Arshad Warsi is frustrated with his legal career going nowhere. He leaves Meerut and moves to Delhi in search of thriving opportunities. Easy popularity comes knocking on his door when he tries to encash some residual fame off a Land Cruiser hit and run case fashioned on the similar BMW case of Sanjeev Nanda by filing a PIL. Pitted against the very best lawyer Rajpal played by Boman Irani who shrewdly scores over Jolly by virtue of his obvious position, stature he has attained in his profession and experience, this fight isn’t an easy one. Jolly suddenly finds himself down from every side with manipulations and threats coming his way. Truth demands strength so can Jolly uncover the intricacies of the case, and fight the likes of such powerful men? What unfolds is a fascinating legal drama, harsh face offs and a strong ending. Now coming down to the performances, the script is not a very elaborate one, but surely leaves room for a brilliant screenplay to flow.

Films play a significant role in the promotion of tourism in various countries and different states of India. A film tourist is attracted by the first-hand experience of the location captured on the silver screen. Not only is film tourism an excellent vehicle for destination marketing, it also presents new product development opportunities, such as location tours, film museums, exhibitions and the theme of existing tourist attractions with a film connection. This report focusses on the concept of film tourism and the various initiatives taken by both the state and central government of India for boosting film induced tourism through their respective film production policies. Dilip Chenoy Secretary General - Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foreword The significance of cinema in today’s times has gone beyond its intended purpose of mass entertainment. Cinema is a portal for people to escape from reality and into their world of fantasy. Cinema is a source of inspiration for some, a source of entertainment for some and a source of education for some.

It has been accepted for inclusion in Journal of Religion & Film by an authorized editor of DigitalCommons@UNO. For more information, please contact [email protected]. Visual Grandeur, Imagined Glory: Identity Politics and Hindu Nationalism in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat Abstract This paper examines the tropes through which the Hindi (Bollywood) historical films Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018) create idealised pasts on screen that speak to Hindu nationalist politics of present-day India. Bajirao Mastani is based on a popular tale of love, between Bajirao I (1700-1740), a powerful Brahmin general, and Mastani, daughter of a Hindu king and his Iranian mistress. The er lationship was socially disapproved because of Mastani`s mixed parentage. The film distorts India`s pluralistic heritage by idealising Bajirao as an embodiment of Hindu nationalism and portraying Islam as inimical to Hinduism. Padmaavat is a film about a legendary (Hindu) Rajput queen coveted by the Muslim emperor Alauddin Khilji (ruled from 1296-1316).
