This & That REHAB UPDATE--Five-time All-Star Salvador Perez and three-time All-Star Alex Gordon were both in the lineup last in Omaha as the Storm Chasers blanked Memphis, 5-0, at Werner Park...Perez, who has missed all 18 games this season with a left knee sprain, went 1-for-4 last night as the designated hitter...he is expected to catch this evening as Omaha opens a series with Nashville...Gordon played in the first game of his rehab assignment, going 0-for-4 with a run scored...Alex has missed Kansas City’s last 10 contests with a left hip lateral tear. DUPER REMAINS SUPER--One of the top replay reviewers in the game, Bill Duplissea kept his perfect 2018 mark in tact yesterday, when in the first game he determined that Detroit’s had been picked off first base and was proven correct after a 1-minute, 5-second review...Duper is 5-for-5 now in successfully getting calls overturned via replay, while he has made good on over 66% of his challenges in his career, which ranks among the best, including a season mark of 69% (24-for-35) last year..Duper closed 2016 as the best in baseball with a 69.2% success rate, converting 27 of 39 challenges. WHIT MERRI-ALL-OVER-THE-FIELD--For the second time in less than a week, super utility man Whit Merrifield made starts at multiple positions in the same day – opening the first game in right field yesterday, before starting at second base in the nightcap...he’s started games at four different defensive positions this season, at first base (1), second base (12), center field (1) and right field (3), while he’s also served as the Royals’ designated hitter once. KING OF THE HILL--Lefty Tim Hill has enjoyed a record-breaking start to his Major League career...added to the 40-man roster during the offseason, Hill has gone his first seven Major League appearances without allowing a base hit, spanning 6.2 innings...according to Elias Sports Bureau, he’s one shy of tying the modern-day big league record (since 1893), held by Garry Rogenburk (1963) and former Royal Jonathan Sanchez (2006), who both went their first eight outings without allowing a hit...despite holding opposing batters hitless in their first 22 plate appearances against him, Hill has been charged with a pair of runs as a walk and hit batter have both come around to score on his tab.
