Meet - From to Modern age

From the Viking Age we will take you up through the Danish history to present day – where Denmark is a modern in- dustrial and agricultural country. Also we will see and hear about Danish democracy as Denmark for many years has been a very stable democracy. You must be interested in history and nature as we will visit a number of museums, as well as you will feel on your own body, how it is to row an old Viking ship – also we will visit a modern Danish farm and agricultural businesses. Furthermore you must be interested in how a country / municipality is run – as Danish democracy will be the second main subject. Last but not least there will also be relaxing activities – among other things a visit to the first original “Legoland” Expectation is that you are genuine interested and will contribute to making the camp a success. The camp will give you an unforgettable impression of Danish history, nature & culture. Evening: Official Welcome Monday 29/06/2020 ”Hærvejens Lejrskole” and surroundings Rules for the camp - Walks and get-together activities

Evening: Salsa Tuesday 30/06/2020 Jelling/Home of the Viking Kings + Sailtrip with the viking ship “Jelling Orm” Visiting “Kongernes Jelling”, where we meet and learn about the Viking Kings of Denmark, see rune-stones and a lot more. Later we go sailing in an old Viking ship called “Jelling Orm” on a nearby lake.

Evening: Canoe training Wednesday 01/07/2020 Industrial Museum, Youth Council in Horsens and Rotary Meeting Visiting The Danish Museum of Industry – seeing development in the Danish Industry. Later debating democracy with the Youth Council in Horsens.

Evening: Rotary meeting, where the Mayor of The Municipality of Hedensted is visiting the Rotary Club – telling us about Danish Democracy and the municipality. Thursday 02/07/2020 Visit to a Viking Center Full day tour to a Viking Center / Village in Denmark.

Friday 03/07/2020 “” (The Old Town) in Visiting a living history museum with houses from 1550 until 1970’s

Evening: Danish Lesson Saturday 04/07/2020 Homestay - Visiting a Danish family The participants spends the day with a Danish family in groups of 2-3 persons.

Evening: Coffee with the families in the camp Sunday 05/07/2020 Uldum Folk High School + Flemming Boarding School Visiting a Danish folk high school that offers non-formal adult education – a vital thing in the development of rural Denmark. Also we visit a boarding school for student aged 14-16 years – a school tradition that originated from the folk high schools.

Evening: Planning Wednesday night’s cooking Monday 06/07/2020 Fredericia – a historical walk + Bridgewalking Fredericia is an old fortress city and has a unique military history. Later we go “Bridgewalking” on the old Lillebælt Bridge – one of the few places in the world, where this can be done.

Evening: Planning Wednesday night’s cooking Tuesday 07/07/2020 Canoeing on ”Gudenåen” – longest river in Denmark We canoe on the river “Gudenåen”, which originates / has its spring very close to the camp.

Wednesday 08/07/2020 Participants are cooking traditional dishes from their countries

Evening: Dinner where everyone is presenting their traditional dishes for the other participants and Rotarians. Thursday 09/07/2020 Visiting a Danish farm, Bygholm Agricultural College and Danish Crown. Visiting a farmer and an Agricultural College – ending at Danish Crown, one of the world’s largest exporters and one of Europe’s largest producers of pork and other meat. Friday 10/07/2020 Legoland Visiting the first and the original Legoland

Evening: Time to pack and start saying goodbye to your new friends Saturday 11/07/2020 Goodbye and departure Everybody leaves the camp not later than 11 o’clock (morning)
