ESPN Deportes the Exclusive Presenter of Jungle Fight 67 ESPN Deportes brings Brazil’s Jungle Fight 67 to U.S. viewers Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. EST LIVE from the Costa Cavalcanti Gymnasium in Foz de Iguazu. The 67th edition of Jungle Fight will feature nine bouts by MMA’s most promising young talent, highlighted by the flyweight belt dispute between Mario Israel and Jonas Bilharinho. Both fighters are coming into the match with no losses in their careers and a great reputation of being well-rounded athletes within the MMA scene. While Jonas Bilharinho trains at Team Nogueira with the Rodrigo Minotauro and Rogério Minotouro team, the current champion, Isreal, has the support of Alexandre “Capitão” and Rayner Silva – both champions in their category of Jungle Fight. “This fight between Jonas Bilharinho and Mário Israel has the making of one of the best fights of all time,” said Wallid Ismael, former athlete and President of Jungle Fight. “It is a fight between two unbeaten rising stars of the national MMA scene. They are both outstanding Brazilian fighters, and I am sure we will hear a lot more from them.” The first time Jungle Fight was held in Foz de Iguazu was August 2013. According to the Secretary of Sports Anderson Andrade, the event brought great visibility to the city, which called for a new edition in 2014 during the city’s 100th anniversary. In addition to being considered a cradle for many popular MMA fighters, Jungle Fight distinguishes itself for inspiring and recruiting young fighters from poor communities, such as Cidade de Deus and Mangueira. Jungle Fight Championship also donates a portion of its proceeds to promote education, protect the endangered Amazon rainforest and support social programs. RIZIN FF Heavyweight Tournament Matchups and Fighter Quotes TOKYO, JAPAN (Nov. 30, 2015) –A drawing to determine the tournament brackets and first stage matchups for the RIZIN FIGHTING GRAND-PRIX 2015 eight-man, heavyweight tournament that will take place over the course of two days – December 29 and December 31 – and will award its winner a grand prize of $300,000, was held today in Tokyo. BAMMA Heavyweight Champion Mark Godbeer, who had been scheduled to compete in the tournament, was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury sustained in training. BAMMA will announce a replacement fighter for the tournament soon. Prior to the drawing, Chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara stated, “This tournament will be the highlight of RIZIN. Fighters from around the world who are proud to represent their promotion and country, and are eager to use this platform to boost their career to make a name for themselves have gathered in the tournament. The majority of the media who gathered today may not know much about these athletes, but when K-1 first kicked off in 1993, nobody knew about Branko Cikati? or Mike Bernardo. The fighters who open up the new doors are those who exceed their expectations.” The seven contestants slated for tournament action appeared at the press conference. Each drew an envelope numbered one through seven, and those who drew numbers one through four received the opportunity to choose their respective places in the tournament draw. Ao longo do trabalho, vamos abordar as principais dificuldades enfrentadas por atletas, fãs e promotores de eventos da modalidade no país, bem como sugerir novas idéias que poderão contribuir para a popularização do esporte no Brasil. Além disso, este trabalho também busca mostrar como o MMA pode ser um campo importante para o jornalismo esportivo, já que está em crescimento e pode gerar mais empregos para o profissional da área. Para a coleta de dados, foram realizadas pesquisas qualitativas e quantitativas com atletas, fãs e promotor de eventos, a fim de identificar as carências de cada um deles no universo do MMA brasileiro. Palavras-chave: MMA, Brasil, Jornalismo Esportivo. Abstract: This article proposes the discussion about the growth and the problems in the Brazilian Mixed Martial Arts, the MMA. In this work, we will discuss the main difficulties that the athletes, fans and those who promote the sport’s events in the country must deal with, as well as suggest new ideas that can contribute to the popularization of Mixed Martial Arts in Brazil. Besides, this article tries to show that the MMA may be important to sports journalism, since the sport’s growth can generate new jobs for professionals of the field. To collect the data, interviews with athletes, fans and promoters were performed, in order to identify the needs of each one of them in the universe of Brazilian MMA.

OS CRITÉRIOS DA ELEIÇÃO Numa modalidade interdisciplinar como o MMA, responder esta pergunta com clareza absoluta é praticamente impossível, afinal de contas, além de conhecer um pouco de cada modalidade o treinador de MMA tem que ter liderança, uma visão tática diferenciada e, acima de tudo, humildade para trabalhar com profissionais de diversas áreas, como Boxe, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, preparadores físicos, sem os quais não conseguirá transformar seus atletas em campeões. Quando decidimos fazer esta matéria pensamos em criar uma tabela de pontuação para as principais virtudes de um treinador diferenciado como: capacidade de gerenciar talentos, visão tática da luta, percentual de vitórias de seus atletas, cinturões conquistados, importância na formação do atleta. Mas com tantos critérios subjetivos em questão, decidimos que a melhor maneira de chegar a uma conclusão objetiva seria perguntando aos maiores especialistas do esporte. Lutadores, treinadores e Jornalistas do mundo inteiro, que por conhecerem a fundo o MMA, tem maneiras diferentes de avaliar estas qualidades. Depois de quase um mês coletando votos de 110 profissionais do mundo todo, finalmente chegamos a um vencedor, o líder da Nova União, André Pederneiras, com 23 votos, acompanhado de perto por Rafael Cordeiro (Kings MMA), com 21 e Greg Jackson, com 16. Nas páginas a seguir você poderá verificar a tabela de votos e entender melhor o porquê estes três treinadores foram os mais votados. UM TREINADOR PARA TODAS AS HORAS A vitória de Pederneiras na eleição da PVT poderia tranquilamente ser justificada por números, afinal de contas poucas equipes hoje conseguem conjugar um excelente percentual de êxitos - 330 lutas com 81,8% de vitórias em 5 anos- com um número tão grande de cinturões mundiais atualmente em poder de seus comandados – quatro.
