I prodotti BergArte sono ricavati dalla buccia riversa del bergamotto ( Agrume tipico della provincia di Reggio Calabria), che modellata da abili mani prendono diverse forme di design , accessori moda, porta spezie e profumatori di ambienti.. Il frutto viene privato della polpa mediante una lavorazione a mano, senza rompere o ledere la buccia, che viene poi lasciata ad essiccare al sole, ottenendo un materiale gommoso che offre la possibilità di essere rigirato e modellato. La lavorazione della buccia del bergamotto inizia nel 1700 con l' invenzione della tabacchiera da fiuto in buccia di bergamotto. La tabacchiera da fiuto veniva , utilizzata per rendere aromatico il tabacco da fiuto, contenendolo in queste piccole ampolline con tappo a vite in legno il tabacco da fiuto prendeva l' aroma inebriante del bergamotto. il Laboratorio Artigianale Bergarte, lavora da Gennaio fino a Marzo l'agrume fresco, mentre nei mesi successivi si passa alla decorazione e alla finitura del souvenir. Nel laboratorio di Bergarte vengono realizzati in modo completamente artigianale una vasta gamma di manufatti profumati di bergamotto dalle forme più svariate (rose, cofanetti, tabacchiere da fiuto , scarpette, oggetti di moda e design e tanto altro .), ottenendo una perfetta simbiosi tra arte, natura, tradizione artigianale e modernità.

Vincitore di concorso, ha prestato servizio, in qualità di Assistente, presso il Centro per le Microcitemie diretto dal prof. Carlo Omodei Zorini. In questo periodo, ha dedicato particolare attenzione all’attività di ricerca ed ha pubblicato numerosi lavori. Nel 1979 ha fondato un Istituto Clinico a scopo diagnostico in Reggio Calabria, intitolandolo al suo Maestro prof. Raffaele De Blasi. Questa struttura, che annovera più di cento dipendenti, è oggi il più importante Istituto Clinico del Mezzogiorno d’Italia nel settore. Si occupa oltre che della semplice routine, anche della ricerca pura, cui vengono finalizzati gran parte degli utili di gestione. I campi di applicazione spaziano dalla Radiologia alla Microbiologia, dalla Genetica Medica alla Biologia Molecolare.
