INDIANA at IOWA • All 14 Big Ten schools will be in action as week one of the 2021 season kicks off Thursday night 3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network when Minnesota, Ohio State and Rutgers make their debut. The Scarlet Knights will play host to Temple at 6:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network, while the Golden Gophers open at home against the West Virginia at MARYLAND Buckeyes at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. The remaining nine schools will begin the 2021 campaign on Friday 3:30 p.m. | ESPN and Saturday, highlighted by a trio of conference matchups. The complete opening weekend sched- ule appears to the right. Oregon State at PURDUE 7 p.m. | FS1 • Illinois opened the Bret Bielema era with a 30-22 victory over Nebraska on Saturday, Illinois’ first victory over Nebraska at home since 2015. The victory marked the first conference win in a season UTSA at ILLINOIS opener for the Illini since Sept. 1, 1984 (24-16 victory over Northwestern in Champaign). 7:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network • Indiana looks to capitalize on its 2020 success as the team opens its conference slate at Iowa this All times Eastern weekend. Last season, the Hoosiers went 6-1 in Big Ten play with the only loss coming by seven points at Ohio State - a team that went on to play for the national championship. • With a 6-1 Big Ten record in 2020, Indiana secured a winning conference record in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1987-88. The Hoosiers’ six Big Ten wins were tied for their most in a WEEK 0 RESULTS season in school history. SATURDAY, AUG. 28 • Iowa and Indiana are meeting as AP ranked opponents for the second time ever and the first time ILLINOIS 30, NEBRASKA 22 since 1991, when No. 10 Iowa defeated No. 25 Indiana, 38-21, at Kinnick Stadium. • Iowa’s first two opponents are ranked in the AP Top 25 (No. 17 Indiana, No. 7 Iowa State). It marks the fourth time in program history the Hawkeyes have opened a season against consecutive oppo- nents ranked in the AP Top 25 (1960, 1973, 1974). The Hawkeyes started 2-0 in 1960, 1-1 in 1974 and 0-2 in 1973. The Walter Camp Coach of the Year is selected by the nation’s 125 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Cutcliffe is the first Duke coach to receive the award, and the first honoree from the ACC since 2001 (Ralph Friedgen, Maryland). Under Cutcliffe’s direction, the 20th-ranked Blue Devils have set a school record with 10 victories and earned their first-ever berth in the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship Game. Duke clinched the Coastal Division title and championship game berth with a 27-25 victory over in-state rival North Carolina on November 30. Duke (10-2, 6-2 in the Coastal Division) will face top-ranked Florida State (12-0) on Saturday, December 7 in Charlotte, N.C. The Blue Devils enter the game with an eight-game winning streak – the program’s longest since 1941. In addition, the Blue Devils cracked the BCS standings for the first time this season, and were a perfect 4-0 in the month of November (after going 1-19 in the month from 2008 to 2012). Cutcliffe was hired as Duke’s 21st coach on December 15, 2007. Last season, he led the high- scoring Blue Devils to a school record 410 points (31.5 points per game) and a berth in the Belk Bowl – the program’s first bowl appearance since 1994.
