STEAM - ART This past week, our 6th-grade students were focusing on the A in STEAM which stands for ART. They are in the process of completing an oil meets water project during art class. Students had to hypothesize which techniques would work for their project to turn out correctly. Then they tested their hypothesis and made the necessary adjustments to complete the project. PTO The Shreve Elementary PTO is an invaluable organization that does so many things to support our students and staff. This includes but is not limited to: organizing room parties, hosting National School Lunch Week, Santa Shop, providing educational resources, funding 6th-grade graduation, and funding the end of the year incentive day. We are looking for people to join our PTO team. Currently, we have a few people taking on all of the responsibility, and in the future, some of the above-mentioned events will no longer be possible without additional support. Please follow this link to sign up for PTO meeting reminders. If you are interested in being part of PTO, please call the school for more details. Thank you to the current members of the Shreve Elementary PTO for helping make #theTriwayDifference. WIGs - 1st Semester Update Congratulations to our Shreve Elementary students for working hard to achieve their Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) during the first semester. 82% of our students showed growth on their STAR reading assessment while an amazing 95% of our students showed growth on their STAR math assessment. Keep working hard on your lead measures! We want to see 100% of our students reach their second-semester WIGs! K’NEX Challenge Teams consisting of 4th-6th grade students got to compete in a K’NEX build challenge at Hillsdale High School. Students had to build a bridge spanning 30 inches as well as a motorized car to travel across the bridge. There were over 40 teams and Triway had a winning team in each of the different categories. This was a unique STEAM competition that our students got to participate in, and we are looking into doing a similar competition with ll of our Shreve students in the spring. Congratulations to all of those students who got to compete at Hillsdale! You did a great job representing Triway and Shreve Elementary! Check out this quick video highlighting the day.
