DAVID PACK HEADS TO CAPITAL HILL TO MEET WITH CONGRESS GRAMMY® Award Winning Producer, Songwriter, and Recording Artist to Address Congress to Help Pass the Songwriter Equity Act March 13, 2017, St. Helena, CA – David Pack, GRAMMY® winning producer, songwriter, and co-founder, former singer and sole writer of all the hits from legendary rock band Ambrosia, will join the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) on Weds March 15 to address Members of Congress and the Congressional Songwriter’s Caucus on the challenges songwriters face making a living in the digital age. David will be joined by bipartisan Congressional Songwriters Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla) on Weds March 15 at 5:00pm for a Capital Hill “Welcome Reception” where he will be interviewed by NMPA Pres. David Israelite and perform several of his #1 classic hit songs such as Biggest Part of Me and How Much I Feel. Earlier that day, Pack and NMPA will meet individually with congressional members and senior hill staff to discuss the Songwriter Equity Act, introduced to the Senate by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Doug Collins (R-Ga). The Songwriter Equity Act is aimed to amend the antiquated Copyright Act and give songwriters much needed help in updating royalty rates. Pack says, ”You may have heard about Kevin Kadine, the co-writer of Meghan Trainor’s monster hit All About That Bass. Kadine made a little over $5,000 on 178 Million Spotify airplays, which is outrageously unfair. On regular terrestrial radio Kevin would have likely earned millions of dollars instead of $5,000. This has to change and it is precisely why I’m getting out of my comfort zone and heading to Washington DC.” NMPA’s Israelite applauded the legislatures for standing up for songwriters. "Three- quarters of a songwriter's income is regulated by the federal government,” Israelite said. “Most property rights are valued in a free market, but songwriters have suffered under a system that devalues their work and takes away their most basic property rights.” “I am honored to be joining NMPA and Congress members blackburn and Deutch in our nation’s capital to advocate for my fellow songwriters,” adds Pack. “I had met with Sen. Orrin Hatch several years ago only to discover he’s a good songwriter himself. We need that kind of advocacy in a big way.” David Pack is the original co-founder of legendary progressive rock band Ambrosia, the voice and sole writer of their classic hits from the 70's and 80’s. He went on to become a successful solo artist, GRAMMY® winning record producer, and Music Director of global special events including both of President Clinton's Inaugural Galas, Presidents Volunteer Summit for Pres. bush, Clinton, Carter, and global events for barbra Streisand, Elton John, Billy Joel, Leonard bernstein, and others. His collected works have sold over 50 million units worldwide. www.davidpack.com / Facebook David Pack Music Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) is the trade association representing all American music publishers and their songwriting partners.
