Sea Vista WWTW upgraded  Upgraded at a cost of R31 million  Expected to benefit more than 2 000 households/  Local labour totalling 44 639 hours  Ten percent of contract sub‐contracted to local Exempted Micro Enterprises

Fleet Replacement Plan

 60 new vehicles and plant purchased over the past four years Before & After  Recent purchases included ten new 4x4 and 4x2 bakkies for the Electrical and Waste Water teams, as well as two new fire trucks

 Almost 130 vehicles and plant have been refurbished by the municipal Fleet section over the past four years, including cherry pickers and sewer tankers

Coca‐Maak Skoon!  First‐time initiative to help residents get rid of unwanted goods and waste that would usually not be collected by refuse collectors. Festive face‐lift for refuse trucks  Businesses took hands to acknowledge the excellent work being done by Kouga’s refuse teams.  Refuse trucks were given a festive face‐lift.  The teams were treated to refreshments and also received vouchers and festive face masks.

Grass and tree‐cutting equipment  New equipment procured to improve grass and tree maintenance along sidewalks and at public areas, including, parks, halls and sport facilities.  Includes 38 brush cutters, 20 industrial lawnmowers, 12 grass‐blowers, 3 telescopic pruners and 2 wood chippers. KwaNomzamo Hall refurbished  The KwaNomzamo Community Hall was re‐opened in November 2020.  Repaired at cost of R1,5 million  New furniture purchased  The hall was damaged by fire during a protest in 2018. Upgrades to public amenities

 Public amenities, including halls, parks and public toilets, are being systematically upgraded.

Campaign Launched  Primary school learners joined Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks for the launch of the Keep Kouga Green campaign in February 2020.  The campaign aims to raise awareness of climate change and the role each one has to play in mitigating its impact. International Partners in Fight against Climate Change  More than 100 delegates from nine countries attended the first international Climate Change workshop in Kouga in 2019  The workshop was a continuance of Kouga’s climate change partnership with the German municipality Ilsfeld.

Historic Title Deeds

 1 827 historic title deeds delivered to the rightful beneficiaries during the first phase in 2018 and 2019  Second phase under way, with 110 title deeds distributed thus First RDP Houses in 11 Years far in 2020/2021.  First RDP houses built in more than a decade  Internal services and top structures completed for Kruisfontein 391 and Pellsrus 220  Internal services completed for Ocean View 1 500  Advanced planning: Hankey 990 (Stofwolk)  The municipality has also purchased land in KwaNomzamo and Loerie for housing projects.

Online Portal for Building Plans  Kouga has become the first municipality in the Eastern Cape to launch a virtual portal for the submission of building plans.  The portal (Ovvio) can be accessed through the municipality’s website and allows those who made submissions to track the progress of their applications
