Reading this series has been a nice break from everything happening in the world. Edgeworth is still my favourite ace attorney character, and This book was the best out of the first three. I look forward to reading the next books in this series. Oct 22, Kathleen rated it really Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations it. I did like how the clues in this one came into play in unexpected ways. Sep 28, Jessica rated it it was ok Shelves: mangamysteriestie-insown. If the theme of the previous volume of the Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations manga was thievery, then the theme this time is suicide. What fun! And that includes the gradual suicide of Kodansha Comics' quality Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations for this series. Specifically, letterer April Brown finds a way to misplace a word every few pages or so. Sometimes a character will end one word balloon with the first word of his or her next word balloon. Sometimes a character ends a word balloon with the Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations word of someone else's word balloon. On one occasion, a character manages to misplace a word from the middle of one sentence right in the middle of an entirely different sentence! Clearly murder is afoot, I guess? What a pointless, pointless story! I'd gotten myself all hyped up for the appearance of Ema Skye, one of my favorite characters in the series because nerdy Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations are cute, but she's terribly wasted here. In that respect, this manga is a very accurate representation of the Investigations game! Basically, she's only there to remind everyone, including the Tokyo police apparently, that fingerprints are a new and exotic Volume 3 that exists. And yes, I said Tokyo. Unlike the games and the previous manga series, everything is set in Japan now, due to a different translator. Technically it's a more accurate translation, but it's so weird to switch back NOW, isn't it? The mystery isn't mysterious in the least, the culprit doesn't even bother trying not to look guilty, and Volume 3 of all, this story doesn't even involve a turnabout of any sort! Kenji Kuroda has never been able to capture the grand unpredictability of the games, but he usually makes a token effort to insert at least a small reversal into these stories, so this is really disappointing. Also disappointing: a stepladder is used without a reference to the infamous stepladder gag! Specifically, the bombing of a Christmas tree "last Christmas Eve". The second suicide in this volume comes when the man arrested for the bombing Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations prison and hurls himself off the top story of his old apartment building, because What could this possibly have to do with the murder of a beloved starlet on the night of her new film's premiere? It's pretty easy to finger the culprit here as well, especially if you're familiar Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations the games, and it's not even hard to deduce how it's done, Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations it is at least a fair mystery Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations time. It makes for a pleasant diversion. As a bonus, you get to enjoy Kazuo Mawkawa's attempts to draw a chihuahua. It doesn't go well! Although this book is rated Teen I should warn those who consider buying this book for younger readers should know this book series has multiple cases and thus far everyone of them involves murder as is common in the Volume 3 too. So by all means check out the book for yourself first and make your best judgment on this book. I for one find the antics of the various characters in the series more than enough draws attention from the more serious tones of the book save for the fact each Volume 3 involves solving a murder. Volume 3 like the previous Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations in the series this book neatly fits two complete crimes that Prosecutor Edgeworth must figure out to discover the criminal mastermind side by side with the less then useful Detective Gumshoe who I enjoy as the comedic element he brings to prevent the serious subject matter from becoming excessively grim. In the first case normally toys can be fun but as president of the Toynbee toy company seemed to have committed Seppuku on the first day of the new room but Edgeworth noticed something that did not seem right and began his investigation. Thankfully with most of the forensics off to celebrate the new year Edgeworth is able to count on the young Ema Skye who is visiting on Winter break from school for studying scientific investigations. It's lights, cameras, and action as Detective Gumshoe is hired on as a bodyguard for starlet Emi St. Cloud to protect her from a stalker. This story also involves a previous case that Edgeworth and Deputy Chief Chase Clink dealt with the previous year leading to the suicide of the mastermind after being convicted and continuing to plead his innocence. With the press outside preventing anyone in the nearly vacant hotel from leaving or coming in without extreme difficulty we discover a murder has Volume 3 and Edgeworth must find out who the murderer is before he runs out of time. Of all the moments in the book I liked the best I would have to be when Edgeworth calls out the murderer in the movie murder best. In addition to catching the culprit he neutralized the reason he committed the murder in the first place totally defeating the person. This volume has two full, stand-alone mysteries they use one or two previously introduced manga-exclusive characters but it's not necessary to have read the previous volumes to understand this one. I was a bit disappointed with the first mystery; it was too easily solved by me as the reader. It was like a Scooby-Doo mystery, where the culprit is easily Volume 3 once he's introduced. There wasn't even a red-herring, though I was hoping and looking for one. The good news is, the second mystery is This volume has two full, stand-alone mysteries they use one or two previously introduced manga-exclusive characters but it's not necessary Volume 3 have read the previous volumes to understand this one. The good news is, the second mystery is much more robust and satisfying. While I guessed the culprit correctly for that one as well, it took more thought and I wasn't quite sure until Edgeworth himself placed all Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations pieces together. It was more like a Sherlock Holmes mystery than the first case's Scooby-Doo. Finally, the bonus material at the end of the volume makes up for the poor opening. I got a few laughs, learned a bit of Japanese culture, and also felt admiration for our dear artist, Kazuo Maekawa-sensei May 18, Thetravelingpanda rated it really liked it Shelves: manga. Emma is finally back! I was hoping to see her in Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations manga series. I hope she'll make more appearances in the future. Their investigation was quite interesting as well. I am always amazed how calm Miles look without Phoenix Oct 14, Lexi rated it really liked it Shelves: october First story was definitely better than the second, although I'm not sure why the perp's fingerprints being in the building he worked in constitute damning evidence. The motive for the second murder was just tosh, and the typos were atrocious. Nov 17, Volume 3.
