theloaferonline.com | Apr. 23, 2019 5 6 , 2019 Apr. 23 Apr. | JRT presents theloaferonline.com HARVEY

The Jonesborough Repertory Theatre is excited to bring the classic comedy Harvey to their stage May 10-26. JRT's well-known actor Lucas Schmidt will be portraying Elwood P. Dowd, the role made popular by Jimmy Stewart in the 1950 film. Get your tickets now to see him and the rest of the talented cast.

Elwood P. Dowd insists on including his friend Harvey in all of his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarrassment for her family—and especially for her daughter, Myrtle Mae— Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. At the sanitarium, a frantic Veta explains to the staff that her years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also, and so the doctors mistakenly commit her instead of her mild-mannered brother. Hilarity ensues as the frenzied search for the truth begins. (Synopsis from Dramatist Play Service)

Harvey is written by Mary Chase; directed by Pam Johnson; and sponsored by Citizens Bank, Monkee's of Johnson City, Wolfe Development, and Sonia King/Mary B Martin. Rounding out the cast are Heather Allen, Tim Barto, Andy Cobble, Janette Gaines, Shawn Hale, Dana Kehs, Daniel Matthews, Sarah Sanders, Catherine Squibb, Krista Wharton, and Austin Wingate.

Shows run May 10-26: Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00. Tickets are $16 general admission, $14 for students and seniors. There is also a special group rate for parties of 15 or more. (An interpreter will be provided for the deaf on Saturday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for these special seats must be purchased by May 4.)
